Standing desk stool, also known as a standing desk chair can be found at every furniture store and most supermarkets. It is a type of stool that is often goes together with a sit to stand desk or regular standing desk. It allows you to rest in a position between sitting and standing. Many avid standers appreciate the third option aside from standing and sitting while working at their desks.
Some models are cheap, some are insanely expensive.
But, I guarantee you that 90% of all of those chairs are not reliable.
If you’re like most people, you want to try a desk so you can move around more freely, maybe engage your core and improve your blood circulation.
Unfortunately, many standing chairs put pressure on your joints and cause health issues like backaches or joint stiffness.
So What’s the Solution?
You need to choose the best standing desk chair or stool that is comfortable and fit your budget!
That takes a lot of research and testing.
Luckily, I’ve done it for you.

Here Are the Best Standing Chairs and Stools For Standing Desks For Comfort and Support for Long Hours (2019)
Harwick Evolve All Mesh Heavy Duty Drafting Chair – #1 Standing Desk Chair Ergonomic, Comfortable With Back Support
The first thing you notice when you look at Harwick Evolve is its ergonomic design. Both the backrest and seat are curved, so they promote a correct, comfortable posture.
The backrest fits the natural S-shape of your spine, while the waterfall seat edge prevents muscle stiffness and circulation problems because your legs don’t have to hang over a sharp edge.
The Evolve is manufactured with durable materials.
The upholstery is made with a patented, high-quality mesh called Duragrid, which feels supportive, elastic and breathable.
The base is heavy-duty, with a gunmetal finish so that this chair can accommodate users up to 325 pounds. It’s no wonder that such a sturdy office product comes with a 10-year limited warranty.
But there are other aspects of the Evolve that I like.
The Evolve is a functional chair that prevents muscle tiredness, joint stiffness, and pain with its reliable lumbar support.
It’s also a user-friendly chair, with flip-up armrests so you can move it as close to your desk as you want to. Adjusting the seat height with the built-in pneumatic mechanism is easy. The high-quality chrome foot ring allows for an extra 20-inch height adjustment.
I also like the Synchro Tilt technology that moves the backrest and seat together when you tilt back. This synchronous movement means your body is supported well regardless of your position.
The bonus is the infinite tilt lock, courtesy of which you can lock the Evolve at any inclined position you like. The 360 degree swivel is user-friendly too because it allows you to turn your chair easily without having to glide it around.
Not that there’s a problem with its gliding function; the Evolve has dual wheel hooded casters for smooth sailing across all types of surfaces.
Now that I’ve written this it appears that I’ve sung the Evolve’s praises. But there are some disadvantagesto buying this chair, starting with its price.
Secondly, for such a steep price, it surprises me that the base is not metal (some people argued that it is a good thing).
I don’t know what material used, but it looks like a sturdy abs plastic.
This material doesn’t affect the Evolve’s functionality, but it might slightly affect its durability.
Waterfall edge seat
360 degree swivel
Up to 325 pounds
10-year limited warranty
Not a metal base
Summary: The Harwick Evolve offers an ergonomic backrest and seat, a wide array of adjustments and dynamic support.
Varidesk Standing Desk Adjustable Chair by VARICHAIR – Best Value Budget Tall Chair
The Varichair is the best chair in the budget category. It’s lightweight, the shipping is fast, and it comes fully assembled.
However, the build quality is medium because both the base and the seat pan are manufactured from plastic, but it’s not the worst type of plastic. I’ve seen a lot of poor-quality Chinese-made chairs, and Varichair is a few classes above them.
I also like how the Varichair moves. The chair is lightweight, the side handle is easy to reach, and you can easily make all the necessary adjustments.
The pivoting joint offers a 360 degree swivel, and I also like its natural forward tilt. But the Varichair offers just the basic movements, so no wobbling or bouncing on it.
In terms of seat comfort, the padded seat is small and convex, to open your hip angle. However, the seat padding is thick, but also hard, so it might not be comfortable for prolonged periods. But for a plastic seat with hard edges, thick padding was needed.
But I have to hand it to Varidesk; Varichair is an ergonomic chair, even if it challenges the traditional proper-posture principles. With its forward tilt and 135-degree leg angle, you’ll sit almost upright, which feels very comfortable and natural.
Besides, it allows you to move freely to prevent stiffness and joint pain. But remember that you’ll be using new muscles and you need an adjustment period to get used to this new sitting experience.
Varichair is a stable chair, with a large, almost square, heavy steel plate covered with a rubber ring that increases its grip.
Ships fully assembled
30-day money back guarantee
Allows you to move while working
The firm seat is not great for prolonged hours
Summary: The Varidesk Varichair is a stable, flexible, ergonomic chair that allows you to move while you’re working.
Ergo Impact LeanRite Ergonomic With Mat – Best Leaning Stool for Standing Desk
If you want to challenge the traditional axioms of ergonomics further, Ergo Impact Leanrite allows you to do exactly that. This leaning chair for standing desks has a minimalist design that consists of an adjustable stool and a mat.
But make no mistake; it’s no ordinary mat and stool. The Leanrite has received plenty of awards for its ergonomic design which helps mobility-challenged people who want to reduce their sitting time.
This design helps strengthen your core and lower back muscles by promoting a neutral posture. This standing position also comes with the advantage of no tail-bone numbness, which you usually get after sitting down for hours at a time.
The Leanrite allows you to move easily while you’re working, so you can use it all day long, unlike traditional chairs. I also like its solid construction and stability thanks to a top-grade aluminum frame, urethane wheels, and pneumatic adjustments.
The mat platform is stable and reduces leg fatigue, but remember that you can’t use it with socks or you will slip right off. The other downside is that the official products picture shows a standing position, but you can’t sit that way unless you’re tall.
But, if you get in touch with the very friendly customer support team, they will advise you how to sit more comfortably and how to use an included footrest.
Reduces tail-bone numbness
Move while working
Solid and stable
Reduces leg fatigue
Platform slips with socks
Very short people can’t use the sitting position without a footrest
Summary: The Ergo Impact Leanrite is a stable, solid leaning chair for a standing desk that strengthens your core, reduces leg fatigue and bone-tail numbness.
AERIS Muvman Sit-Stand Stool – Great Mobile Standing Chair
The Aeris Muvman is an award-winning chair and a pathfinder in its category. As such, a lot of standing desk chairs have tried to mimic its design or characteristics.
The first thing I like about this chair is its German quality because all the materials and parts used are grade A, especially in the world of standing chairs. For instance, the base is made from glass-fiber, which is among the sturdiest and lightest materials available.
This material is reinforced with precision-coating polyimide, which is a medical and engineering grade type of coating. Add to that the non-slip rubber rim and the steel mounting plate, and you can see how stable and reliable the chair is.
On the other hand, the seat is a bit lacking. The seat pan is made from glass fiber and reinforced with polyimide too, but it’s a bit small and firm for my taste.
As glass fiber is a hard material, I also would have liked to see more padding around the edges. Still, I like the soft, microfiber upholstery.
I also like the 13-inch adjustment range thanks to a user-friendly steel cylinder. While 13-inches is a lot, the Aeris Muvman also features an extra 3-inch adjustable height for tall users.
This wide array of height adjustments has a hidden advantage: you can use the Muvman whether you’re leaning or sitting. This chair is ergonomic, with a 4-degree front tilt which opens up your hip joints and promotes a dynamic, flexible posture.
Besides, the Muvman has 360 degrees swivel. But even if you’re not swiveling on it, you can still move around freely thanks to the tension.
Good US warranty
A wide array of adjustments
Extended cylinder option for tall users
Sitting position available
Seat handle for portability
Not a lot of padding around the seat edges
Summary: The Aeris Muvman is stable chair for tall users, which you can use in a variety of positions.
The Move is a good move from Varier. This saddle stool is designed in Norway but is made in Poland since 1985. As such, it already has an established reputation and a long tradition on the market, which explain its reliable warranty.
The materials are all top-notch, starting with a stable, sturdy hardwood base. This base has upward-curving edges, which means you can wobble on it. This design allows you to move more during the day, and to lean forward and back without any trouble.
If wobbling is not something you want to do in some situations, you can rely on the flat section of the base to sit without worrying about the chair’s stability. Besides, the base edges aren’t vertical, so the wobbling motion is limited.
Another thing to consider about the Move is its saddle design, with three sides and upward-curving corners. While the seat is comfortable with thick padding and high-quality fabric, this saddle design takes some getting used to.
Besides, the chair is uncomfortable for upright leaning. I like the height adjustment range though. Thanks to three height options, you can add up to 34 inches of total adjustable height to this chair, which is perfect for tall users.
Height-adjustable for tall users
Can be used for sitting
Saddle seat needs an accommodation period
Can’t fully lean on it in an upright position
Summary: With its wobbly design, the Varier is a good desk chair for keeping you active and for tall users.
UPLIFT Motion Stool – Good Ergonomic Stool for Standing Desk
The UPLIFT Motion Stool is another interesting idea for a standing desk, though you can also use it for perching, not just leaning. The Motion might not be for everyone, though, because it has a round base that wobbles you in all directions.
While this can keep your core engaged and strengthen your muscles, it can also be a little difficult to maintain stability. The stool also rotates, which might be a problem in terms of stability if you like to prop one foot on your chair while at your desk.
That said, I like the construction and the materials used. The weighted base is manufactured from molded rubber, which has an excellent grip to the floor. This is a stable chair you won’t slip or slide off of.
Motion’s body is manufactured from polypropylene, another resistant material that adds years to its life. The seat has a waterfall design and plush padding, so it’s comfortable and ergonomic.
This design improves blood circulation because it takes the pressure off your thighs and because you’ll always stay moving. I also liked how breathable the upholstery is, even when I didn’t have my AC on.
The 10-inch height adjustment is user-friendly, though it’s not as good as the 34 inches offered by the Move by Varier. While you have to be over 5’1” to enjoy the maximum comfort of the Motion, you can also add a footrest if you’re a petite user.
10-inch height adjustment
Might be too wobbly for some people
Not for petite users
Summary: The UPLIFT Motion is a self-balancing stool that improves blood circulation and keeps your core engaged.
Modway Attainment Drafting Chair – Mobile Chair for Standing Desk With Back Support
The Modway Attainment chair is a versatile model. You can use it for a standing desk, for gaming, painting or to practice your guitar. It can also be used as a reception desk chair for your home office.
The first thing I noticed about the Modway Attainment was its quality, stylish-looking design. The backrest is made from a breathable type of mesh, which feels flexible and supportive. The seat is foam-padded and covered with vinyl, so it’s comfortable and plush.
On the other hand, the seat might get a bit too warm or sticky if you’re wearing shorts. Vinyl is also easily scratched if you have sharp edges on your desk.
But the design itself is ergonomic and supportive. The lumbar support this chair offers is a definite plus, allowing you to spend longer hours sitting and minimizing backaches. At the same time, the seat has a waterfall design, so it takes the pressure off your back and thighs.
On the other hand, tall users might have a problem with this seat’s length. As such, they’ll find their knees are hanging too much out of the seat, which proves uncomfortable.
I found the Modway Attainment a functional, user-friendly chair. It allows a swivel (360degree), a height adjustment of 22.5-30 inches and supports up to 330 pounds.
The flip-up armrests are comfortable too, and you can vertically adjust their position. I only wish they could move on other directions to accommodate more of your body shape and movements.
The chrome-plated foot ring is adjustable, though, and a real blessing for people who like to perch up a foot while they’re working. The chair is stable even if it has five easy-glide wheel casters, so you can lift both your feet if you’re a petite user.
Remember that this chair is designed as a replacement for your desk chair. As such, it can’t fit under a regular desk because it doesn’t go low enough.
22.5-30-inch height adjustment
Padded, adjustable armrests
Adjustable foot ring
Can’t fit under a regular desk
Not for very tall users
Summary: The Modway Attainment is a versatile, ergonomic chair for standing desks, that can give you a break from your standing stool.
Modway Charge has some advantages when compared to the Attainment, which makes it my first choice of office chair for a standing desk. The butterfly design for the backrest is the first thing that caught my eye.
This design mimics a human back, with a central spine and flexible ribs, and explains why the Charge is comfortable office chair. The backrest is padded with mesh, which is breathable and flexible.
However, tall users might not feel the full support of this backrest because it can be too short for them. The seat has a curved design with a waterfall edge, which takes the pressure off your thighs.
Besides, there’s generous padding in the seat, so it’s comfortable and cushion for longer hours sitting down. Unlike the Attainment, the Charge uses a mesh upholstery for its seat, meaning it’s more breathable and less prone to scratches.
The other materials are sturdy and reliable too. The steel foot ring is stable and user-friendly, the gas cylinder moves smoothly and is extra-tall, while the nylon frame is resistant. Just like the Attainment, the Charge boasts padded vinyl armrests which move vertically up to 90ᵒ.
Unfortunately, these can get scratched by your desk edge. The chair is functional and easy to use. It has a 360-degree swivel, an easy-to-reach control knob, and easy-glide wheel casters.
Anatomical backrest design
Curved seat with waterfall edge
Easy-to-reach control knob
Can’t fit under a regular desk
Easy-to-scratch vinyl armrests
Not for very tall users
Summary: The Modway Charge is the most ergonomic replacement chair for your standing desk, thanks to its breathable, supportive butterfly design and curved seat.
Luna Standing Desk Stool by Fully – Good Stand Up Desk Chair
This compact, lightweight stool allows you to find the best position between sitting and standing. This position can feel dynamic and empowering for certain people, while others would also have the option to sit.
It’s no question that the Luna keeps your core tight and works your muscles, which keeps you energized when you’re working. With a 300 pounds weight limit and a 23.6 – 33.5-inch height range, this chair works well for most users.
However, Luna might not be the best choice for petite users. Even taller users will sit at a 120-degree angle, so they won’t be able to sit down.
But this angle opens your hips and is supposed to promote a positive posture and better circulation. That said, I like Luna’s construction.
The aluminum base is resistant, yet light, and it’s also covered with a rubber material, so it doesn’t slip. The eco-polyester seat cushion is an apple of discord for online reviewers.
The seat is firm, albeit supportive, and some users prefer plush, cushiony seats.
These cushiony seats allow you to sit down for hours, but remember that the Luna will only allow you to stand or lean.
Resistant, non-slip base
Can’t sit on it
Not for petite users
Hard polyester seat
Summary: The Luna chair by Fully is a stylish, convenient standing desk stool for leaning that promotes positive posture and enhances blood circulation.
Active Collection FWS-1000-BK Pivot Stand-Up Leaning Seat – Best Ergonomic Standing Support Chair & Stool
Designed by Martin Keen, the FWS-1000 promotes active seating, which encourages movement. The seat is fairly high, so you’ll keep your legs at a 130-135-degree angle to your chest.
This angle doesn’t allow you to sit on the chair, though you can lean on it. There’s another disadvantage to this angle: it makes the FWS-1000 unsuitable for petite people.
I like the seat construction, though. The Tri-Flex padding is a sort of rubbery material, which gives it firm support.
This firmness might not be amazing for people who crave that cushiony feeling, and it might also not be fantastic if you want to use it for hours at a time.
You can solve this issue by placing a non-slip cushion on your seat or experimenting with the tilt angle to get a better weight distribution.
That said, the waterfall design and sitz bone contours support a leaning position and take the pressure off your tail bone and thighs.
I also like the adjustment grips because they’re easy to reach and activate the hydraulic tube well. It’s also a smart design decision to add these grips on both sides. Other user-friendly features are the 360-degree swivel and 26 to 35.5-inch height adjustments.
The base is covered with a tacky rubber, which prevents slips. But don’t wobble on your chair too much.
Non-slip rubber-covered base
No pressure on thighs or tailbone
Easy-to-reach adjustment grips
26 – 35.5-inch height adjustments
Can’t sit on the chair
Not for petite users
Summary: The Active Collection FWS-1000 offers reliable support for leaning when you’re at your desk chair, thanks to its Tri-flex padded, waterfall seat.
Some models that are not included in this review: Office Star Pneumatic Drafting Chair, HON Perch Stool, Safco Products Metro Extended Height Chair 3442GR, Boss Office Products B16245-BK Be Well Medical Spa Drafting Stool, Modway Edge
Important Factors to Consider When Choosing the Standing Desk Stools or Chair
Good warranty – a 5 or 10-year warranty shows that your stool or chair is durable and well-made, so it gives you peace of mind.
Height adjustment – allows you to accommodate your posture, body shape, size, and movements.
Mobility – you need a light chair that can be easily moved from one place to another. Built-in handles are a plus.
Quality materials – make sure base and frame are made from a solid, durable material like aluminum or glass fiber, not cheap plastic.
Range of motion – if you want to stay active while working, look for a wobbly or bouncy desk chair.
Seat comfort – choose a supportive seat, with a waterfall edge that can take the pressure off your thighs. Remember that standing desk chairs have firmer seats than regular desk chairs.
Seat design – there are various seat designs for standing desk chairs: convex with a round seat, concave (curved inwards) and saddle. The convex design takes the pressure off your thighs and improves blood circulation. The concave design is ergonomic and adjusts to your body shape. The saddle design offers increases mobility, but it takes some getting used to.
Stability – you don’t want to fall over with your stool.
Stylish design – you’ll use a good-looking chair more often than one that looks bad.
Upholstery – generally speaking, the upholstery should be soft, flexible and breathable. For example, a quality mesh is an excellent material for the backrest and seat. Vinyl and leather are soft too, but they scratch easily.
Value for money – this ensures you’re investing in a quality item instead of feeling buyer’s regret.
Versatility – add points for a highly adjustable chair, which you can use for many activities and in different positions.
Types of Standing Up Chairs to Go With Your Standing Desk
Active sitting chairs – these chairs allow you to move while you’re working, so they’re dynamic and work your core muscles. Their purpose is to keep you energized and present.
Drafting chairs & Drafting Stool – they look like regular office chairs, but they’re suited for standing desks, not regular desks. These chairs are versatile. You can use drafting stools from sewing to painting, playing guitar, writing or in a reception room.
Leaning stools – think of the Varichair model. These stools allow you to sit, stand or lean. The disadvantage is they can easily tip over.
Stability balls – these can replace your active sitting chair, but they move you more, so they’re less stable, albeit more core engaging.
Are Bar Stools & Standing Support Chair Good for Posture?
Standing support chairs and bar stools challenge the traditional principles of an ergonomic, proper posture that keeps you with your knees and elbows bent at 90ᵒ, and your back flat. Regular desk chairs have firm, plane backrests, seat and armrests.
Recently, it has been shown that a leaning position, somewhere between standing and sitting, is closer to what our bodies need.
From an evolutionary standpoint, humans aren’t made to sit for 8-10 hours at a desk or in traffic. That’s why a leaning desk position is better than just sitting.
Standing support chairs and bar stools allow a natural position of your spine, which keeps your core muscles engaged.
In turn, a stronger core allows you to maintain a proper body posture on your own.
Besides, high-quality standing chairs have ergonomic seats, which improve blood circulation and open your hips.
Sitting with your hips open also contributes to maintaining a good posture in the long run, as you won’t suffer from joint pain.
Is a Stool Better for Your Back?
That depends. Some regular office chairs are ergonomic and have excellent lumbar support, which can alleviate chronic back pain, stiffness, and joint pain. IF you have some serious issues you may want to look into office chair for posture correction. On the other hand, if you don’t have any back pain, a stool can be better for you in the long run.
That’s because stools engage your core muscles and open up your hips so that you can strengthen your lower back and glutes. Strong muscles are a good way to prevent future aches, pains, and stiffness.
What Should Be the Seat Height of a Good Stand up a Chair?
That depends on your height. Make sure the chair adjusts between 90ᵒ to 120ᵒ or 130ᵒ for a perfect fit. Most tall people don’t need more than a 35-inch height, while petite users can lean well on a 25-inch high chair. Before buying your chair, make sure it allows a wide range of height adjustments.
Final Words on Standing Task Chair Models
I reviewed some amazing chairs in this article, but the best one overall is the Harwick Evolve, with its ergonomic backrest and seat, dynamic support, and the large range of adjustments.
In the budget category, the Varidesk Varichair is the best-value chair because it’s flexible, ergonomic and lets you move when you’re working.
Ergo Impact Leanrite is the best leaning stool thanks to its stable, solid base and abilities to minimize thigh and bone-tail pain.
The Aeris Muvman is the best in the mobile standing chair category because it’s stable and accommodates a variety of positions.
The Varier Move is the best height-adjustable standing stool for tall users thanks to a wobbly, saddle design that keeps you active.
The UPLIFT Motion stool is an excellent ergonomic stool for a standing desk because it’s self-balancing design keeps your core engaged and improves circulation.
The Modway Charge is the best office chair for your desk because it’s ergonomic, breathable and features a supportive butterfly backrest design.
Each of these chairs is best in their category, though the Harwick Evolve isthe overall best. So chair will you choose and why?
An office chair is one of those modern type of furniture equipment that you are going to be using for extended periods of time every single day
Same as a good mattress or pillow, it should be chosen with care because directly or indirectly it will influence your short and long term health & well-being.
BAD chair (uncomfortable / limited adjustability and support) may cause long terms issues, such as back pain and muscle tension.
Many cheap chars will not last long and will cost you more in the long term.
What’s the bottom line?
You need the as comfortable office chair you can get and afford.
Good ergonomic chairs is one of the best investments you can make in your health, productivity, and general well-being.
I’ve advised my friend Mary to switch her chair due her lower back issues and her conditions improvedin just Two months of sitting in the right postion by adhsuting the chair to fit her perfectly. Some models are more adjustable then others.
One of the best and most adjustable and reliable (not cheap either) chair is Herman Miller Embody (that is what my friend Mary is using).
There few comparable models that a cheaper which I will talk about below as well.
Here Are the Top Rated Most Stylish & Comfortable Ergonomic Office Chairs for Your Home or Office [2019 Update]
What type of chair is best for office work?
What chair allows for sitting long hours?
Herman Miller Aeron Chair – #1 & Best Overall & Most Comfortable Computer Chair
Herman Miller Aeron uses a PostureFit SL design, which means it will follow the natural S-shape of your back, with a prolonged curvature under your buttocks.
This design promotes a positive posture, with your chest open and shoulders back, instead of hunching forwards.
Your pelvis will also tilt a bit forward instead of pushing back, which generally causes lower back pain.
I like the adjustable lumbar pads for preventing lower back pain.
These pads help keep the base of your spine stable, in an anatomically-correct and comfortable position.
Like many users, I also like the materials and craftsmanship used for making the Aeron chair.
The seat and back are made from a breathable material, called 8Z Pellicle suspension.
This material is also quite resistant, creating eight areas of different tension on your back and seat, which are very supportive.
It would have been better if the designers added a headrest too because that would have provided additional support for your neck.
You can get this chair in THREEsizes: small, medium and large.
However, even the largest model is just 20.5-inch tall so it might not be suitable for tall users.
Even though the Aeron is an expensive office chair, it’s a great long-term investment because it’s reliability and will last for decades.
It even has a 12-year warranty to prove that it will always have your back.
Promotes positive posture
Adjustable lumbar pads
Eight tension zones
Not for tall users
Summary: The Aeronis the best overall office chair because it’s ergonomic, supportive, reliable and will last for decades and covered with 12 year warranty! It is also the best computer chair!
Steelcase Leap Desk Chair With Headrest – #2 Most Comfortable Desk Chair
The first thing you notice when you open the product page for the Leap is its wide variety of colors, with about 15 models to choose.
Besides, this is Steelcase’s flagship model and the most ergonomic model in its product line, thanks to the Patented LiveBack technology.
This design ensures that the Steelcase Leap follows your natural spine curvature and can also adjust to your back when you’re moving.
Its ergonomic build is one reason why I think it’s the most comfortable office desk chair on the market. Another reason is its headrest, which can adjust 2.25 inches vertically and adds up to 9 inches to the overall height.
However, this chair might not be great for petite users. One reason is the tall headrest, but the overall product dimensions also suggest that, especially the assembled 52+ inches height.
Still, the chair can support heavier users, considering that the Leap Plus is weight-tested for 500 pounds. I like the Natural Glide System too, which offers a smooth range of adjustments – and I’m thinking mainly about the pneumatic seat height.
But I also like the separate controls which adjust lower back firmness and upper back force independently. While I like a firm seat cushion to prevent lower back sciatica pain, some users might find it somewhat uncomfortable.
The arm pads are highly adjustable, but they might also feel hard, especially because they’re flat. The Leap is a reliable, durable and cozy office chair. If you care about protecting the environment, the Leap is up to 98% recyclable according to its Life Cycle Assessment.
Wide variety of models
Flexible adjustments to your movements
For heavy users
Separate controls for lower and upper back
Flat and hard arm pads
Not the best for petite users
Summary: Steelcase’s Leap is the most comfortable office chair because it has an ergonomic build and it can dynamically adjust to your movements.
GM Seating Ergolux Ergonomic Best Executive Office Chair – Genuine Leather
(Comfy Budget Home Office Chair – Alternative to Aeron Model)
If you fell in love with the Aeron but thought its price point is a bit high, the GM chair is the best affordable alternative, with its dashing good looks.
The genuine calfskin leather used for the upholstery makes this chair stylish so you can improve your home office look.
The GM is the comfortable executive office chair that is a reliable and functional, with a 5-year limited warranty coverage.
Lumbar support promotes a good posture and help to prevent back pain.
There is a wide array of adjustments you can do to make this office chair feel comfortable for hours at a time.
The GM offers reliable support thanks to its ergo design, which can alleviate back stress. If you adjust the seat height, you can reduce stress on your lower back and knees.
As such, make sure your hips are slightly higher than your knees, and that your thighs are parallel to the floor.
Even the headrest is quite comfortable, especially as you can use adjustable height and angle.
The 3D arms can be set for different heights, and they pivot to accommodate different postures, which puts a minimum strain on your muscles. However, these armrests are fairly flat and hard, so not incredibly comfortable.
The automatic lumbar support system minimizes back pain, and so does the seat slide because you can adjust the seat depth.
With the tilt tension option, you can adjust the backrest depending on your body weight, to find a comfortable position.
With so many adjustments, I would only wish the lumbar area would be adjustable too so that you can personalize its position and its curve according to your needs or body shape.
Besides, the adjustments are plentiful, but they are sometimes irksome to lock in. The instructions don’t help much in that regard either.
Prevents back pain
Promotes positive posture
A wide array of adjustments
Flat and hard arm rests
No adjustable lumbar
Difficult to lock in the adjustments
Summary: The GM chair is an affordable, stylish chair that aims to reduce back pain and promote a positive posture.
Secret Lab Omega – Best Gaming Chair (Overall)
The Secret Lab Omega chair has plenty of features that recommend it as a top gaming chair, starting with its enhanced padding.
Secret Lab designs comfortable chairs, but this one is something else thanks to more padding in all the right places.
The Omega is cozy, and its cushion provides a perfect mix of support and softness. Thanks to its cold cured memory foam, the Omega distributes your weight evenly on the seating area, minimizing pressure points.
That explains why the chair is so supportive but also why it’s more durable than other gaming chairs.
Gamers know how important armrests are. You don’t want your fingers to go numb during your battle with the final boss, do you?
Most gaming chairs try to solve this problem with additional padding, and so they’re designed with plump armrests. However, these armrests tend to break down after continuous use.
Well, with Omega’s polyurethane coating, the armrests feel firm and soft at the same time, plus they don’t wear out as fast.
Besides, these armrests are 4D, so they can tilt in four different directions, allowing you to find the most comfortable chair position.
Speaking of adjustments, the Omega boasts a comfortable recline, unlike the majority of gaming chairs.
Omega allows you to recline without disconnecting the seat and backrest, so you can keep comfortable position even when you’re tilting.
Gamers want reliable, resistant and functional chairs. You get precisely that with the Omega, thanks to its aluminum mix base.
This base is light but sturdy and corrosion-resistant. The hydraulic gas piston that allows you to adjust the seat height is strong and resistant too.
Even the wheel casters are long-lasting and won’t damage your floor, as they’re made from polyurethane rubber.
Besides, this material allows easy gliding regardless of the type of floor you have at home.
Speaking of materials, the 2019 edition of the Omega chair features polyurethane leather office chair upholstery.
This top-quality material is hand-picked, soft, durable, not to mention resistant to water and stains.
I’ve listed so many pros, but no cons so far. That’s because I couldn’t find any, except maybe the instructions manual which is not very beginner-friendly.
If you want to be picky, the Secret Lab Omega Logo all over this chair might be a downside for some people, but it doesn’t affect the chair’s functionality.
Supportive, soft cured-foam cushion
Soft, durable upholstery
The firm, yet soft armrests
4D adjustable armrests
Summary: The Secret Lab Omega is a supportive chair for extreme gaming sessions because it promotes a positive posture and doesn’t let your hands go numb.
DXRacer Classic Series – Most Comfortable Gaming Chair
The DXRacer Classic Series might not be as good as the Secret Lab Omega, but it’s the most comfortable gaming model I could find.
Its ergonomic design with a free lumbar cushion recommends it for prolonged gaming sessions. Secondly, the wide seat with a patent race car design is supportive enough to reduce back pain.
Besides, the leather-style vinyl upholstery is soft, breathable and doesn’t let you break a sweat. I also like the extra-high backrest because it supports your whole spine, taking off pressure from your neck and back.
As such, the DXRacer Classic Series gaming model can support you comfortably from your neck to your pelvis, preventing stiffness and joint pain.
The seat and back are both flexible, and you can adjust them to find the best position. The 3D armrests are adjustable on three positions, which means you can adjust them comfortably to prevent shoulder and wrist pain.
I also like how durable and resistant this chair is. The five-point base is stable and manufactured from aluminum, while the gas spring is resistant.
The 3-inch polyurethane wheel casters glide easily on your floor and won’t scratch it. That’s why this chair comes with a lifetime warranty for the frame, and two years for its parts.
However, the recommended weight is 250 pounds; the recommended height is about 5’10”, and your BMI should be below 30 to fully enjoy this chair.
The firm padding can feel somewhat uncomfortable for people who are embarking on a 5-hour gaming session, and who could use an extra cushion.
Free lumbar cushion
Adjustable arm rests
Great back support
No removable cushion included
Not for heavy or short users
Summary: The DXRacer Classic Series Gaming Chair is supportive and prevents stiffness and joint pain.
Steelcase Gesture Chair – Arm Comfort – One of The Best Ergonomic Office Chairs
Steelcase Gesture is the best chair for arm comfort. If you feel your hands going numb while you’re typing on that computer or have to stop frequently to massage your fingers or roll your wrists, the Gesture has you covered.
The first thing I like about this chair is its versatility. The Gesture can support a wide variety of users sizes, and it’s flexible enough to adjust according to your movements.
Regardless of your industry and the technologies you’re using at your office, the Gesture can adapt with ease.
This chair is remarkably confortable, especially as the back and seat are synchronized, so they both move together when you move.
This flexible, dynamic adaptability can also be noticed for the armrests, which move much like a human arm to provide good support regardless of your position.
However, some users might notice that the armrests move too easily, which can be somewhat disconcerting.
The cushion is hard, so you might need to get up and move once in a while, but the seat has a flexible perimeter which allows you to sit comfortably in different positions.
This wide range of adjustments covers different sitting preferences, plus it can adapt to a variety of body shapes.
Bonus: the Gesture requires no assembly so that you can use it right out of the box.
Supports a wide variety of body shapes
Flexible to your movements
Flexible seat perimeter
Wide range of adjustments
The seat cushion is hard
The arms tend to move too easily
Summary: The Steelcase Gesture is ergonomic and can dynamically adapt to your movements thanks to its large array of automatic adjustments.
Herman Miller Embody Chair (Best Office Chair For Lower Back Pain Issues) For People Who Like to Work With a Slight (or Major) Recline
If you have back pain, but still have to work a desk job, the Herman Miller Embody can help with your issues. The ergonomic design of this chair improves positive posture because it’s supportive.
This design helps take your mind off back pain and focus on your job. The tilt limiter (tilt mechanism) is one of the first features which promotes positive posture because it doesn’t let you hunch.
However, the chair isn’t stiff at all because it has adjustable seat depth and arms. The base and frame are lightweight, yet durable, seeing as they’re manufactured from reliable graphite.
The golf-ball design for the seat and back makes the Embody breathable. Sweat prevention is an important feature because excessive moisture in your back area can worsen the symptoms of chronic back pain.
There’s another advantage to this pixelated design: an improved blood circulation. Let me explain. The Embody is a result of extensive research, designed with the help of over 20 physicians and experts in physical therapy, biomechanics, and ergonomics.
That’s why the Embody helps distribute the pressure on your back evenly and align your spine so that you can enjoy an ergonomic sitting experience
With reduced pressure, you’re free to move freely, which improves blood circulation. The Backfit adjustment is another pro because Embody’s backrest is designed anatomically-correct, like your own back.
As such, the chair features a central spine and flexible ribs, to maintain a flexible, yet balanced position throughout the day. This chair is supportive even when you lean forward or back. Embody is unique because it features four support layers, each made from a different material.
The purpose is to add additional support and to optimize airflow. I like the flexible armrests too, which you can adjust in and out. However, some users have complained about their not having a locking mechanism, which means they’ll move too easily.
The purpose of this is to mimic a natural arm movement, but some users don’t like it. With a 12-year warranty, the made in the USA Embody chair is adaptable and flexible, regardless of the devices, you’re using at your desk.
As such, this chair prevents stiffness, joint pain, and muscle tiredness.
Anatomical design with a central spine and flexible ribs
Adjustable lumbar support
Great for sitting longer periods of time
Improves blood circulation
No locking mechanism for the armrests
Summary: The Embody is a supportive chair that allows you to move naturally, minimizing stiffness and enhancing blood circulation, 12 year warranty and it is best office chair for back pain issues.
Eurotech Ergohuman Mesh High Back Office Chair / Best Chair With Head Rest
The Eurotech Ergohuman has a suggestive name. This chair is specifically designed to provide anatomically-correct support to your back.
As such, there are three back angle adjustments to find the right position for your needs. These positions lock easily, which means you’ll enjoy reliable stability while you’re at your desk.
You can also employ tilt lock technology and the tension control adjustment if you need your chair to move flexibly with your body movements. Tension control means the chair reclines or leans forward depending on how much force you’re applying to it.
There are other adjustments you can make to find a natural, ergonomic position. The cushion and headrest can be moved around as you want, to accommodate your height or special needs.
The lumbar support is contoured and can also be height adjustable. This support makes it comfortable to sit in the Ergotech Ergohuman for hours at a time. Besides, you can also do height adjustmens with resistant, easy-glide pneumatic cylinders.
Like most top-quality office chairs, the Ergohuman boasts a synchro-tilt mechanism, so the backrest and seat move together when you want to lean back. As such, you can regulate your seat depth easily, to make sure you have a positive posture.
The pivoting armrests are another plus in terms of support and versatility. However, my biggest complaint is that the mesh backrest might not be too resistant, especially when it comes to supporting heavier users.
Contoured lumbar support
Reduces back pain
Not recommended for heavy users
Summary: The EurotechErgohuman is a highly adjustable office chair that aims to minimize back pain and improve poor posture.
What Are Best Cozy Desk Chairs Under $200?
The chair models above are all high quality, but they might be well over your budget. Don’t sacrifice quality for the sake of saving money though. The chairs below are all in the inexpensive category, but they can still pack a punch.
Topsky Mesh Computer Ergonomic Chair – Best Office Chair Under 200
The Topsky Mesh Computer Office chair is a value for money product. I like that it boasts lumbar support, so you can customize it easily and at the same time avoid back pain.
Another feature I like is its headrest. Including a headrest when designing an office chair is a user-friendly feature, especially as you can adjust this particular headrest in three positions.
The same goes for the armrests, which help you keep your arms tilted at a comfortable angle when you’re at your desk. The armrests and headrest minimize joint pain and muscle stiffness.
I couldn’t help but notice that other, more expensive office chairs, provide a wider range of adjustments. As it is, the Topsky office chair is functional, but a basic model.
I found the Topsky’s design user-friendly and comfortable. The high-density mesh upholstery is fairly resistant and breathable. As such, the chair can be used by people up to 330 pounds.
The 145° synchronous mechanism is another plus because you can lean back in this chair. The position lock provides extra stability, but you’ll find this chair doesn’t dynamically shift positions with your movements.
The Topsky sports a hanger on its back, to win some extra UX points, but it only has a 1-year warranty. While the chair might last longer than that, it doesn’t compare with the decades’ long life of Herman Miller’s Aeron.
Good lumbar support
Not extremely durable
Summary: The TOPSKY Mesh Computer Ergonomic Chair offers reliable support from your neck to your seat.
BestMassage Ergonomic Office Chair Desk Chair
The BestMassage desk chair has reliable lumbar support because its backrest follows your natural spine curvature.
There’s a side control handle you can use to lean the chair forward and back, which helps you find a good position.
Although more expensive office chairs feature a natural tilting experience and dynamic movements, this is a basic functional chair.
The nylon lumbar support is another point in its favor. That’s because this material feels natural and breathable, while at the same time supportive.
It’s not a cushiony material with lots of padding, but the high-density foam in the backrest makes it soft enough to minimize back neck and shoulder aches. The seat is supportive too, so your thighs are parallel to the floor. All these features combine to improve posture.
That said, the backrest feels more ergonomic than the seat, which isn’t soft or cushiony. The advantage is that the seat won’t wear out with time, but it’s not the best chair for prolonged hours sitting down.
The disadvantage is the mesh material used for covering the chair seat because it can leave imprints on your bum. The armrests are supposed to be ergonomic, but they’re not this chair’s best feature.
Some office chairs have high armrests, but this one has them too low, which can mess with your upper back and shoulders in the long run. You can easily solve this issue with a pair of Velcro armrest pads, though.
Although this chair is sturdy and reliable, it can only support users up to 250 pounds.
Reliable lumbar support
Side control handle
Not for heavy people
Summary: The BestMassage office chair has an ergonomic backrest, and it’s sturdy.
AmazonBasics Big & Tall Executive Chair
The Amazon pick, this Big and Tall executive chair is designed for American users. I appreciate the sturdy, commercial-grade components, thanks to which this chair can accommodate people up to 350 pounds.
The bonded leather material makes the chair look stylish and imposing. My experience with leather is that this material is prone to stains and rips.
It’s also not a breathable material like mesh either, so you’d better have an air conditioner that works in your office.
That said, I think that leather is a supportive, soft material. The plush padding makes this comfortable chair to sit for hours at a time, but the padding tends to wear out after a couple of years.
I also appreciate the lower-back support because it minimizes backaches and prevents stiffness.
The curved armrests feel comfortable enough, though I wouldn’t call them ergonomic because they don’t enable flexible movements.
The 360-degree swivel is a definite advantage because you can turn around without moving the chair.
However, the smooth-rolling casters allow you to glide your chair smoothly when you need to and don’t damage your floor either.
The best thing about this chair is that it has a comfortable tilt with various locking adjustments. Still, it lacks the synchronous backrest-seat movement of more expensive office chairs.
360-degree swivel chair
Infinite tilt-and-lock adjustments
Leather can wear out fast
Summary: With the required assembly and 1-year warranty, the AmazonBasics leather executive model isn’t the best on the market, but it’s well-made, comfortable and stylish.
Few models not included in this review are: Mid-Back Mesh Chair by Flash Furniture, Flash Furniture White Leather office Chair, Alera Elusion Task Chair with waterfall edge, Serta Mid-Back office Chair, Herman Miller’s Sayl Model, AmazonBasics Low-Back Task Chair, AmazonBasics Mid-Back Mesh Chair, Alera Merix Fabric Mesh, Furmax High-Back Gaming and Racing Chair, SPACE Seating Professional Office Chair, Haworth Zody Chair,VIVA OFFICE High Back, Poly and Bark Tremaine Drafting Chairs
What to Look for in Comfortable Ergonomic Chairs
Now that you’ve read all these reviews, let’s see if we can summarize the most important features when it comes to getting an ergonomic office chair:
Comfortable fit: you want an anatomically-correct chair, with a design that fits your natural spine curvature to prevent backaches and stiffness.
Back support: a cushiony, yet firm back support minimizes back pain, allows you to move naturally and promotes a positive posture.
Adjustable lumbar pads: offer increased support for your lumbar area and can fit different positions and body shapes.
Adjustable armrests: you need to position your arms comfortably at all times, to avoid upper back or shoulder pain.
Synchronous backrest-seat tilting: offers excellent support and promotes a positive posture whether you’re reclining back or leaning forward.
Overall adjustability: you need a wide range of adjustments for the seat depth depth and height, armrests and headrest to ensure the chair offers dynamic support.
Easy locking mechanism: once you make the adjustments, you want your chair to have an easy lock-in.
Padding: too little padding makes the chair feel hard, but too much padding gives you backaches. Look for firm, yet comfortable office chairs that allow natural movements.
Headrest: takes the pressure off your neck, so it minimizes neck stiffness and upper back pain.
Material: the right material, like quality polyurethane, is breathable and durable.
Base: you want a reliable, durable, metal base that makes your chair stable and ensures its long lifespan, so look for a 5-point base chair.
Swivel action: it’s how you can effortlessly turn around to speak with your coworkers or get something on your desk.
Easy-to-reach handles: you can change your position without too much trouble.
Curved seat front: reduces knee pain because your legs wrap comfortably on the seat.
Warranty: a good warranty over 5 or 10 years proves the chair is durable.
What are the Best Office Chairs for Sitting Long Hours?
Gesture is the best chair if you sit longer hours every day.
There are many reasons for that, but I’ll focus on the most important.
An essential thing when you’re looking for a best ergonomic office chair that allows you to sit down for hours is its flexibility.
Let’s be honest; you won’t just move your fingers while you’re typing. You’ll also lean back and forward, left and right and so forth.
The Gesture can accommodate all those movements, self-adjusting with your body.
A second thing to consider is whether the chair is versatile enough to accommodate various technologies.
And the Gesture can work with you, enveloping and supporting your body regardless of the device you’re on.
When you’re sitting down for hours, you also need reliable arm comfort.
The Gesture has human-like arm rest which move together with your arms.
You also need a comfortable seat.
While the Gesture features a harder material for the seat cushion, it does have a flexible perimeter.
Lastly, look for a chair with synchronous back and seat tilting, so it can support you whether you’re leaning back or forward.
The Gesture can also do that, which makes it an adaptable office chair.
Is an Expensive Office Chair Worth It?
Yes. It is worth it. Think about it. If you sit longer hours every day, should you not make sure you have the best chair that will impact your long term health and wellness?
With cheap chairs, you may develop various conditions, back pain as an example. Expensive office chairs promote positive posture, reduce muscle tension and prevent stiffness.
They move with your body, so they provide an enjoyable sitting experience. But expensive office chairs aren’t just a whim. Sitting comfortably is essential for being able to focus on your tasks instead of focusing on your pain.
With cheap office chairs, you have to constantly get up and move around to get rid of muscle stiffness.
Moving around isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can make you less productive especially if getting up always makes you lose your train of thought.
Besides, expensive office chairs use quality materials. A grade-A upholstery means you’ll enjoy a breathable backrest instead of a sweaty one. Your wheels won’t scratch the floor. The chair won’t squeak.
But more than that, an expensive chair is an investment. Put it like this: paying $100 for a chair that will last one year is a worse bet than paying $1000+ for a chair that will last for decades.
How To Make Desk Chair More Comfortable
If your chair isn’t comfortable enough, but you don’t have the a bigger budget to invest in a better chair now, read our advice below.
If you’ve bought a quality chair with all-around positive reviews, but still aren’t sitting comfortably, read the advice below to make sure you’re using it right.
Sit correctly: the proper sitting posture is upright with both feet on the ground, chest open and shoulders back, but not hunching up.
Make all the necessary adjustments to your chair: check the height adjustment, backrest, armrest, and headrest every time you sit down.
Get lumbar support: if your chair doesn’t provide a lumbar support pillow, you can buy one yourself. This pillow offers more padding to your lower back, fitting your natural spine curvature.
Add a footrest: if you’re short, have poor circulation or chronic leg pain, adding a footrest ensures your legs are properly aligned and supported. A footrest helps correct your posture in the long-run.
Add armrests: buy some cheap padded Velcro arm rests to minimize upper back, shoulder and neck pain.
Buy a reliable chair: if nothing works for you and can’t find comfortable adjustments, maybe you should consider buying a better chair that helps with your backaches or muscle stiffness.
Are Mesh Office Chairs Comfortable?
Just like any other material, the mesh has its advantages and disadvantages, depending on whether it’s high-quality or low-quality.
I like the high-quality mesh back because they’re breathable, so you don’t get sweaty if you’re sitting down hours at a time. Breathability is important for overall comfort level, but also for reducing backaches. Besides, if you’re cozy, you can move around freely, which improves blood circulation.
Mesh is a form-fitting material, so it’s versatile enough to accommodate a large array of shapes and body types. This ability to envelop your body is essential in terms of support as well.
Mesh chairs offer reliable basic support even without additional lumbar support or tons of adjustments.
I also like quality mesh like the Aeron’s 8Z Pellicle because it feels soft and cozy. On the other hand, the low-quality mesh is rough and scratchy.
Besides, the poor-quality mesh is inelastic, so it’s less supportive and not particularly durable. But some people dislike even high-quality mesh on their seats because it makes the seats feel too firm instead of cushiony and plush.
As such, you can’t sit on a mesh-seat chair for too long. That said, I think chairs with top-grade mesh backs are comfortable, breathable and supportive, though mesh seats are a turn-off for me too.
Final Words on Review of World’s Most Comfortable Chairs
Buying guide summary:
Let’s review the main points of the most comfortable chairs on the market.
Aeron is the best overall office chair because it’s ergonomic, supportive, promotes positive posture and will last for decades.
It’s my top pick if you have the budget, as it’s a good investment in the future.
The GM chair is an affordable, stylish chair that aims to reduce back pain and promote a positive posture, and it’s the best alternative to Aeron if you’re on a budget. It is one of the top chairs in this price range.
Steelcase’s Leap is one of the most comfortable office chairs because it has an ergonomics build that adjusts to your movements dynamically. This natural adjustment is important if you’re sitting down for hours.
The same goes for the Steelcase Gesture, which can dynamically adapt to your movements thanks to its large array of automatic adjustments.
If you’re a gamer, the Secret Lab Omega promotes a positive posture and prevents arm stiffness, so it’s the best for extreme gaming sessions.
The Embody allows you to move naturally, minimizing stiffness and enhancing blood circulation, so it’s a good chair for stiffness and chronic back or joint pain.
The AmazonBasics chair is well-made, comfortable, durable and elegant, plus it’s the best chair for tall and heavy users.
Did you make up your mind now? If so, let me know what you decided in the comments below.

Is it really worth the money?
Kahuna LM6800 Massage Chair Review (2019 Update)
This model has feet and calf rollers, features that not all 5000+ chairs have.
Also, shoulder airbags (not a standard option for the most chairs, even more expensive models), arm air bags and leg air bags.
Twist and stretch options, heating therapy on lower back and legs, and more importantly L-track massage system (L track is feature of more expensive chairs with higher price tag), 3 stages of Zero Gravity & Smart body scan technology!
It features space-saving technology that will require ONLY 3 inches from the wall, so it can fit smaller rooms and spaces.
Yoga stretching program stretches your full body and it’s my absolute favorite feature!
Kahuna has an established a name withing massage chair community duet to packing many features that come with an affordable price tag.
Also customer support is one of the best I tried, considering that massage chair industry full of Scam and companies with questionable reputation, considering that many brands don’t even have local customer support specialist.
Biggest CONSof this chair:
The biggest concern for some people is strong foot roller massage, but it can be easily solved by using some pads or cushion;
If you are under 5 feet, rollers may not hit all your areas properly;
No Memory Settings (I personally don’t care about his but some user like to ave it);
Kahuna promises to provide limited 3 year warranty and offer it for all parts, labor and structural framework of the chair. Keep in mind that it is also possible to buy 5 year extended warranty and for this kind of purchases I wold suggest you to do so.
Let’s take a look at some features in details …
It’s an FDA registered medical device, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s also functional and working correctly. Read on to see how you can benefit from adding this massage chair into your home. Important Features of Kahuna massage chair LM6800
Important Features Overview of Kahuna Massage Chair LM6800
Hybrid S-/L-track Design
Kahuna 6800LM massage chair starts strong with a hybrid S-/L-track design that only brings the best of the two words, enhancing overall massage experience right from the start.
The S-track follows the natural curve of your spine while the L-track extends further, reaching from the neck to the glutes and thighs.
The quad rollers travel longer and further down your body; this is a rarity with the budget massage chair, and it’s an great feature that can exceed your expectations when complemented with other features that this chair has to offer.
3D Body Scan
This is a common feature for many massage chairs. Since Kahuna looks after its users, it’s no wonder they’ve included it.
A body scan is a very valuable option since it automatically adjusts the rollers before the massage, positioning them to make sure they hit all the pressure points on your body.
The chair scans you, adjusting the rollers according to your body shape and height.
But Kahuna goes a step further, allowing you to manually adjust the rollers in case the computer misses a spot!
That way you can make sure to get a thorough massage, customized to your needs.
Kahuna LM6800 Zero Gravity Position
Inspired by Nasa, Zero-G is a common feature of many massage chairs, but the majority only comes with one level.
Kahuna LM6800 is incredibly unique since it offers three Zero-G positions; it’s something you won’t find in other chairs in the same budget.
By elevating your knees slightly above your heart, your body’s weight is pressing down into the chair, against the rollers.
This position only improves your massage experience and results in a deep tissue massage.
If you’re suffering from chronic pain, this is a fantastic feature with therapeutic benefits.
And not only that; deep tissue massage also helps to improve the overall quality of your sleep and further reduce stress levels!
As a whole body massage, Kahuna air massage tries to do the best with 36 airbags placed strategically around the chair.
The airbags may be First Generation, but that doesn’t mean they cut the quality of the massage short.
In fact, it’s quite the opposite. You can control air massage through 3 intensity levels for more customization.
Vast Massage Options
Another feature where Kahuna wants to please its users as much as possible is with the amazing massage options.
In a lot of cases, massage options are cut short, but not with Kahuna.
You can choose between five different massage techniques (including shiatsu) and five pre-programmed massages that target a specific area of your body.
But that’s not all; Kahuna allows you to customize your massage through three different intensity and speed levels of the rollers!
The incredible amount of customizable options allows for a more thorough and intense massage experience, suitable for your needs and preferences.
For those of you suffering from a specific problematic area, choose zone massage option with the “Fixed Spot” on the remote.
The rollers stay where they are, massaging an area 6 inches apart from the selected point.
This allows you to release the pressure from the area where you most need it, and it only adds up even more value in terms of the therapeutic benefits of the chair.
This is quite a standard function in many massage chairs, but Kahuna is unique because it comes with two different areas of heat; the lumbar area and the calf area.
Typically, most chairs offer heat in the lumbar and not all of them do.
Heat therapy can soothe, rejuvenate, and restore the damaged tissue and further improve the massage experience.
Now, you can’t control the heat, and you can’t adjust the temperature.
Both functions are either on or off.
Some may think this a disadvantage, but the whole combo of massage options along with heat therapy make an incredible package of therapeutic benefits you can enjoy on a budget!
Body Stretch Feature
A “Yoga” stretch can provide you with an instant relief since it helps to take the pressure off your spine and discs.
This feature targets especially those who suffer from chronic back pain and it’s a rare find in the chairs with this price tag.
While it takes a bit of time getting used to it, it’ll quickly become your favorite if a painful back is something you suffer from.
Calf and Foot Massage
Not all massage chairs of this price range have a calf and foot massage feature.
As a part of the massage, this Kahuna massage chair combines airbags and rollers to provide the maximum relief to painful and sore legs and feet.
If you spend a lot of time on your feet, this feature is aimed at you.
What’s more, there are even rollers at the soles of the feet!
There have been occasional complaints that the foot massage is too intense for a casual user, but you can always adjust the intensity with the remote.
If it’s still too much, some users suggested wearing an extra pair of socks!
In any case, this is a valuable feature with additional heat therapy in the leg massage ports.
If you suffer from chronic leg pain, you’ll find the function rejuvenating and soothing.
Kahuna 6800 is one of the massage chairs many regularly recommend for taller users. You’ll be happy to know the ottoman can be adjusted by 5 inches.
That means the chair can accommodate users from 5’ to 6’4” without any difficulties, which gives Kahuna a definite advantage when it comes to user-friendly massage chairs.
Space Saving Design
Speaking of user-friendly, this massage chair comes with another great feature: it’s space efficient!
This is an essential feature since some massage chairs are ridiculously bulky and not everyone can afford to sacrifice their entire living area for it.
But Kahuna has thought of that; with this design, you only need 3 to 4 inches between the wall and the chair. And that’s easily a turning point for many people.
Now, a remote control may or may not be that important, but it’s a relief to discover that the learning curve isn’t too severe.
Kahuna was thinking of its users when designing the remote and they did a great job with it.
Make no mistake, there are many functions and options for customization, but it’s all logically placed.
If there’s something that we hate is a complicated remote control.
With this one, we believe you’ll have no problem finding the controls you want.
Kahuna LM6800 vs. LM-7000
The Kahuna LM6800 is the basic model which LM7000 was built on and somewhat improved.
There aren’t many differences between these two massage chairs.
Honestly, we love a few upgrades on LM7000, but we’re just not completely sure it’s worth the money.
What They Have in Common:
Full body scan
Foot and calf massage
6 pre-programmed massage modes
Painful foot massage
Both chairs deliver a solid massage, but there are a few differences between them.
LM7000 has a 5-year warranty, LM6800 only has a 3-year warranty
LM6800 has a remote control, LM7000 comes with LCD remote control
It’s possible to regulate massage duration with LM7000 model
LM6800 has a hybrid S/L track design, and LM7000 comes with an L-track
As you can see, the differences are minor between these two models.
Yes, the warranty plays an important role, and that is a great surprise.
The word has it, LM7000 model is quieter than its predecessor, but we’re not sure about that.
In any case, both of these chairs come from the same brand, and they inevitably bring their own set of advantages.
But if we had to choose one, LM6800 is by far the winner.
It’s more affordable and incredibly therapeutic when it comes to soothing back pain, sore muscles, and improving overall wellbeing. We’re not sure if the difference in money is worth it!
Kahuna LM-6800 vs. SM-7300
Kahuna SM7300 is another excellent model. But even this one isn’t too different from the basic LM6800 Kahuna.
The differences are minor, even though quite important!
What They Have in Common:
Hybrid L/S-track design
3D body scan
Zone massage option
Yoga stretch option
SM7300 packs six-roller system, while LM6800 comes with the industry’s standard quad rollers
LM6800 comes with 2 areas of heat therapy: lumbar and calf. SM7300 only has lumbar heat therapy
SM7300 also comes with only one level zero-G, while LM6800 offers a three-level zero-gravity
LM6800 has 36 airbags and SM7300 with 32 airbags
There are a few minor differences between the models, but we’re not sure why SM7300 has been slightly downgraded when LM6800 already has everything you want in a massage chair (especially on the budget).
Both of these chairs are suitable for tall and big users. And both of the chairs brings soothing therapeutic benefits to the table.
True, air massage isn’t as effective in LM6800 model as it is in SM7300, but it packs many other features that altogether work to soothe sore muscles and painful back.
Few Words About Kahuna SM 9000 Model
Another amazing massage chair model, Kahuna SM9000 is something both serious and casual users love.
It’s designed to boost a regular massage session with a few extra kicks that benefit people with chronic back and leg pain as well!
This is an excellent model; it packs incredible features you’ll start using religiously.
Some of our favorite features are:
Yoga Body Stretch
Amazing calf and foot massage
Strong air massage
But there are a few downsides that make us believe SM9000 may not be the best model out there.
Don’t get me wrong; this is an excellent model, but perhaps not for the price.
It has a serious competitor that brings a lot more to the table.
The thing is, we don’t like the fact that we can’t adjust the time of the massage.
And there’s no way to control the temperature for the heat therapy.
With a few other points, we’re convinced Luraco I7 Plus is a better massage chair with the same price tag.
After all, Luraco comes with a noise-reduction technology that will make the chair easy to use without any distractions to your family members.
As an FDA registered device, it’s excellent for tall people, for chronic back pain sufferers, and for all who want their massage chairs built in the USA!
Final Words on This 3 Kahuna LM6800 Review
Kahuna LM6800 Massage Chair is a well-built chair with plenty of remarkable features for the price.

Many users rave about few model such as Infinity 8500, but I think the Kahuna 6800 is better if you on a set budget.
The Infinity 8500 can be compared to the Kahuna 7300, so I included a brief comparison between these two models down below.
After that, I only a few important questions answered and a conclusion.

If you are looking for top of the line, best in the world models, read my guide on world’s top massage chairs.
5 Affordable Massage Chairs You Can Buy on Sale Now
The my #1 Pick and the best massaging recliner for you is right below.
Let’s start with the first option…
Kahuna LM-6800 Full-Body Shiatsu Massage Chair
I tried the Kahuna LM-6800, and its best feature is the hybrid track design because the S-track follows the anatomical spine curvature while the L-track offers a great glute and thigh massage.
With its space-saving design and pivoting chair, the Zero-G seating is another perk for this affordable price.
But in fact, the Kahuna 6800 boasts three Zero-G positions, which is on par with more expensive massage chairs.
Another feature thanks to which we got a great massage is the 3D body scanning technique thanks to which all our pressure points where reached.
Surprisingly, the Kahuna offers a manual adjustment of the rollers, which is great if the automatic machinery misses a sore spot.
For a cost-saving chair, the Kahuna boasts whole-body air massage with 36 airbags, along with various massage techniques, such as Kneading, Tapping, Kneading & Tapping, Rolling massage and the more advanced Shiatsu.
Plus, there’s a zone massage option to massage a fixed spot, the exquisite Yoga stretch option, and calf and foot massage.
The back and calf heat therapy is another plus for the massage chair price range, though you can’t control the temperature.
Another downside is that you can’t change the massage timer, but that’s not a deal breaker.
Plenty of air cells
Various massage techniques
Full-body shiatsu massage chair
Back and calf heat
Can’t adjust the temperature
Can’t adjust the timer
Summary: The Kahuna LM-6800 is a truly therapeutic chair, with plenty of high-end options.
OS-4000 Zero Gravity Heated Reclining Massage Chair
We tested this chair too, and it’s a definite contender to the Kahuna 6800.
There are a few similar characteristics, such as the body scan system, the air pressure massage, and the manual mode.
On the other hand, there are some differences: this chair only has an S-track, 2 zero-gravity positions (which is still a lot for a budget model) and just lumbar heat.
However, that’s not to say there’s anything specifically wrong with these features, just that the Kahuna offers more options.
We liked the PU covering for the seating though because that increases the overall durability of the chair.
There are 6 built-in programs, hips, and lumbar squeeze, 5 intensity levels, and seat vibration massage.
Conversely, the remote definitely has a learning curve, and the chair is not comfortable to use as a leisure recliner without the massage.
2 zero-g positions
Easy to customize
PU seat cushion cover
The remote needs some learning
Not comfortable as a leisure recliner chair
Summary: The OS-4000 massage chair offers a decent massage, but there are no exceptional features.
Ideal Massage Shiatsu Chair
This affordable massage chair can be considered as truly ideal, at least because it’s a budget model that offers a Shiatsu massage.
However, it’s a heavy item with default curb-side delivery, so you might want to consider paying extra for the white glove delivery.
Just like the Kahuna 6800, it sports 3 modes of zero-g seating and the advanced Shiatsu technique.
The other three techniques available are Kneading, Rolling and Vibrating, plus there’s lumbar heat therapy – so no foot and calf heat available.
The 3-year warranty and 10-day return policy are good, but there’s a 20% restocking fee.
With a decent massage quality offered by the air massage and vibrating chair, the 30-minute massage length is quite good too.
However, the air massage for the arms seems too gentle.
On the other hand, you will have to assemble the chair yourself, even though that’s quite easy.
Another disadvantage is the lack of massage options, with no tapping, percussion or stretching.
Besides, you can’t manually control your leg adjustment, there’s no feet massage, and the machine is a bit noisy.
3 Zero-gravity modes
Too gentle air arm massage
Can’t control leg adjustment
No feet massage
Summary: The Ideal Massage Shiatsu Chair is ideal for Shiatsu, but it doesn’t offer many additional options.
Kahuna SM 7300 With SL-Track Full Body Massage Chair
The Kahuna 7300 has some similarities with the Kahuna 6800, starting with the SL track design that offers many therapeutic massage benefits.
However, the six-roller system is an upgrade, offering more massage modes and a soothing, life-like human touch massage experience.
This model also boasts a 3D body scan feature for locating all pressure points, along with the manual adjustment option for the rollers and massage area width.
The 7300 has similar massage techniques to the 6800 model: the only difference is that it boasts Knocking instead of Rolling.
But you also get the advanced Shiatsu technique and the relaxing Yoga Stretch.
The Zone massage mode is another similarity, but the timer is adjustable with this model. Another advantage to this model is that it has various massage modes for different people: Dynamic Sports, Golfer, Office Person, and Senior, that you can easily customize.
Conversely, the 7300 model provides soothing heat just for the lumbar area, and just one level of zero-gravity.
Besides, there are just 18 airbags, as opposed to 36 for the Kahuna 6800.
On the other hand, it includes user-friendly benefits like the removable seat cover, extendable ottoman, and space-saving technology.
Easy to customize
No foot and calf heat
Just one zero-G level
Fewer airbags than the Kahuna 6800
Summary: The Kahuna LM-7300 offers a real-life massage, though it doesn’t have outstanding features.
Titan Pro Alpha Full Body Massage Chair
The new arm design of the Titan Pro Alpha is a definite advantage: you just have to slide your arms into the sleeves, and you get a decent air massage courtesy of the built-in airbags.
Even if it has 28 airbags, fewer than the Kahuna-6800, this is still more than other budget models offer.
The L-track design is great for a comprehensive, neck to back to buttocks massage, though the Kahuna’s 6800 hybrid track is better.
Although the Titan Pro Alpha has a space-saving design, it only comes with four built-in massage techniques: Kneading, Tapping, Kneading & Tapping plus Shiatsu.
There are 2 zero gravity positions, fewer than the Kahuna 6800 offers, but still pretty decent.
The dual-action foot rollers offer a great massage, and this chair comes with two advantages: Bluetooth speaker connection and memory function. Besides, it’s pretty quiet when compared to the Ideal Massage Shiatsu Chair.
Other good features are the adjustable shoulders, plus the back pad pillow to adjust the massage intensity that’s otherwise quite difficult to change for deep-tissue L-track massage chairs.
This chair also boasts a computer body scan system and 6 built-in massage programs: Express, Wholesome, Classic, Oriental, Swedish and Chiro.
With manual massage mode and side panel control, this chair is easy to operate. However, the remote has a learning curve.
We already talked about the Kahuna SM 7300 above, so let’s see how it compares to the Infinity IT-8500, another top choice in the lower price range.
A first difference is that the Infinity IT-8500 offers inversion therapy to lengthen your spine and relieve pain thanks to the Tru-Grip V Stretch.
Although they are both zero gravity massage chairs, the Infinity IT-8500 features two positions of zero gravity to decompress and improve your circulation.
The waist twist with 3 speeds is another great program that stretches your lower back and hips, decreasing tensions.
The optical body scanning technology used for the Infinity 8500 is similar to that of the Kahuna 7300, though some would say it’s more accurate.
The quad style massage roller feels very realistic, with three levels for the width and 6speed levels.
On the other hand, the 30-inch S massage track is not as good as Kahuna’s hybrid SL-track design, although it can accommodate people of different heights.
With more airbags than the Kahuna that is strategically built-in the chair, the compression massage feels great, offering a truly deep tissue massage.
Besides, just like the Kahuna 7300, the Infinity massage chair offers lumbar heat and good foot massage, but it features one extra massage technique apart from the five they have in common: the Synchronic style that massages you on the beat of your favorite tunes.
Because yes, the Infinity-8500 also includes an MP3 player and built-in sound system!
However, the 4 built-in massage types with the Infinity can be considered less personal than the ones offered by Kahuna 7300, which fit different categories of people.
The spot massage is another similarity, but the Kahuna 7300 has the exquisite Yoga Stretch.
With that in mind, we feel that the Infinity 8500 is hands-down a better chair.
While the Kahuna boasts the great Yoga Stretch and the SL-track, the Infinity 8500 has better features for therapeutic purposes, like the inversion therapy, one extra zero-G position, waist twist and increased number of airbags.
Besides, the Synchronic style and built-in music system are user-friendly additions.
What Massage Chair is Best for Me?
The answer which budget cheap massage chair is the best depends on various factors, but the two most important are purpose and budget.
Check our reviews above to see which models can fit your budget, then consider your purpose.
If you want a massage chair for therapeutic purposes and post-surgery healing, make sure it has at least one zero gravity seating option.
A full-body Shiatsu massage chair recliners the best for sore muscles, while those with a full-body stretch are great for relaxation.
If you want a great chair to unwind after a hard day at work, you don’t need a lot of massage options, techniques or functions – even the basic chairs in this review can provide a decent massage.
If you’re very particular about your needs, consider a chair with a memory function or with very customizable options.
This is also a great choice if there are more people in your household that will use the massage chair.
Where to Buy / Good Massage Chair Price Stores
One option would be to visit the official website where these chairs are retailed, especially considering you can choose between various delivery and shipping options.
You can also select a warranty or can use gift cards for your power recliner.
Otherwise, you can try trustworthy websites like Amazon, which has a fast delivery system, good shipping rates and you can pay with your credit card.
Amazon is also a good choice in terms of returning options.
To Sum Up Our Cheap Massage Chair Review
We reviewed a lot of chairs in this article, but we couldn’t help ourselves: we wanted you to have the complete picture so you can compare, contrast and make the best choice.
So here’s our opinion: the Kahuna LM 6800 is a premium robotic massage chair, with top features that recommend it for therapeutic purposes, including the SL-track design, 3 zero-G seating, comprehensive air massage, plus lumbar and feet heat therapy.
The other chairs are reliable too, though they have more important disadvantages.
In terms of the under $1000 category, all the chairs there are good, offering basic massage functions.
The iJoy Active 2.0 is the best in this category, with the only disadvantage that it can only fit petite users.
Otherwise, it’s more accurate and offers better massages than the other two chairs, even if it doesn’t have the zero-G option.
And when it comes to a comparison between the Kahuna 7300 and the Infinity 8500, the latter is a better alternative because of multiple therapeutic functions.
But that’s just our point of view. Let me know what’s in your opinion is one of the top rated cheap massage chairs out there and why?
Has the search for your ideal massage chair been challenging and arduous?

OGAWA Smart 3D Massage Chair
The OGAWA Smart 3D Massage Chair has been lauded as “the most advanced massage chair in the world today.”
This top-of-the-line model luxury massage chair is dynamic, multi-functional, and customizable beyond your wildest dreams!
It’s incredibly comfortable and provides users with access to 17 massage styles at the minimum as well as several intensity settings.
The Smart 3D Massage Chair has a gorgeous, elegant design. The amusing thing is that it feels even better than it looks, and now that you’ve seen it, you know that it must feel incredible to sit on!
This exceptionally advanced chair utilizes a Samsung Tablet instead of the standard remote control that you’ll notice attached to most massage chairs.
Over and above that, each regular user of this model luxury massage chair will be able to create their own personal profile to be used with the Smart 3D.
Once you’ve created your personal profile, the Smart 3D will tailor and customize its massage techniques to your preferences.
The OGAWA Smart 3D Massage Chair is arguably one of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced equipment of its kind in the entire world.
For our purposes during this review, it is undeniably the #1 Top Model. There are competitors to the Smart 3D model.
The Luraco i7 chair is a competitor to the OGAWA Smart 3D because of its similar high-quality features and in my opinion is the winner and the best massage chair in the world right now!

In similar fashion to the Smart 3D model, customer reviews of the Active L are almost entirely positive
It’s quite difficult to find anyone writing or saying anything negative regarding one of these massage chairs
The Active L serves as an excellent mid-priced alternative to the Smart 3D model.
Customer reviews and organization-led reports have named the Active L Massage Chair “one of the best value luxury massage chairs” on the market.
OGAWA takes pride in making luxury equipment affordable and accessible.
On the other hand, it may make sense for prospective customers to invest in the Infinity 8500x, which is more expensive.
Conversely, the 3D Kahuna Exquisite Rhythmic model is a comparable and might be a better choice choice.
The affordable nature of this model is illustrated by the fact that the device offers several features only found in chairs that cost double the price.
A few of these traditionally pricey components include the L-Track massage system, touchscreen remote control, Bluetooth connectivity, and several more.
The Active L model proves that you don’t have to spend your life savings or save for years to afford a chair!
OGAWA Touch 3D Massage Chair
Features 8 distinct massage techniques
Multiple roller guides that soothe body
Double body scanning technology feature
Two-part “Zero Gravity” feature
Remote control feature allows for convenient and simple command of the device
Full-body tracking rollers that cover every inch of the user’s body
One of the first luxury massage chairs to incorporate the “Zero Gravity” feature
Multiple vibrations and heat settings
Overall, this model is similar in many ways to the Smart 3D model, but it lacks a few features
Lack of adjustable airbag device
Remote control feature isn’t wireless
Less sophistication and variety of features
Certain areas of the massage chair cannot be controlled electronically
The OGAWA Touch 3D Lounger can be thought of as the less expensive, yet equally functional cousin to the Smart 3D model.
The first feature of the OWAGA Touch 3D lounger that strikes a new user is the stunning design.
The dimensions of the chair are sleek and clean, producing a very modern appearance.
The Touch 3D comes in two beautiful color schemes, both of which fit the dimensional appearance of the electronic lounge chair.
There’s no debating that the Touch 3D isn’t the most advanced of the OWAGA series, but it may very well be the best-looking chair of the group.
We’re going to save the time of listing out the incredible amount of features found in the Touch 3D model because the majority of them are identical to those found in the Smart 3D model.
The OGAWA Touch 3D remains an excellent luxury electronic lounger.
However, if you’re going to be spending this kind of money, we’d recommend that you spend the small extra amount and go for the Smart 3D model.
Alternatively, for a similar price, a customer could find the 3D Kahuna Exquisite Rhythmic model as a better option due to its diverse features and versatility.
OGAWA Refresh Plus Massage Chair
The unique, refreshing air massage feature
A vast array of massage features, techniques, and methods
Zero Gravity Seating
Sturdy, visually pleasing design
Two distinct massage capabilities
Awesome air massage technique
Massage features and techniques are customizable to fit your personal needs
Features an entertainment suite and tablet control system
Need additional 3D rollers in order to better utilize the Zero Gravity Seating function
Needs additional heating sources in the lower and leg sections of the seat
The OGAWA Refresh Plus lounger model presents customers with a hard-to-resist value for the cost!
This model is more affordable than most of the other OGAWA therapeutic chairs, yet it still has plenty of features, gadgets, and options to keep any lounge chair lover occupied.
The presence of many features doesn’t mean that a chair is capable of or should be tasked with performing every imaginable function.
The Refresh Plus model was designed for casual therapeutic chair users rather than people who need the features for physical, therapeutic, or health reasons.
The Refresh Plus is perfect for people who are trying out their first chair and are seeking a taste of as many features as they can for their first try.
It’s a smart strategy for people to introduce themselves to the lounger market, and the Refresh Plus model is an excellent example of a multi-faceted chair with lots of features.
In addition, the Refresh Plus model is an aesthetically pleasing piece of furniture.
It has a unique look that can be the centerpiece of an entire room, or at the very least is sure to catch some eyes.
However, at a similar price, the Kahuna 6800 model may be a better option for prospective luxury massage chair customers.
The Kahuna 6800 has similar features and can be found at a less expensive price.
OGAWA Active Supertrac Massage Chair
Innovative Supertrac Technology
Dynamic design with appealing physical dimensions
Advanced roller technology
Zero Gravity Technology
Full-body air massage and compression
Features 56 strategically-placed air pockets, which assist in the performance of certain massage techniques
Advanced Supertrac roller technology
Full-body scan technology that assists the massage chair in adjusting the shape to fit your body
The simple remote control function
When this model was released, it was at top-of-the-line and featured innovative, state-of-the-art technology.
However, one customer review stated that the spine massage feature was far too weak.
As a disclaimer before we begin our final review of this article, the next model has been discontinued.
We’re going to review the model anyway, and if you fall in love with it, there are still models out there on the secondhand market.
We decided to review it to demonstrate how OGAWA brand has remained at the top of the massage chair market for several years.
They have continued to create new ideas and push the boundaries of luxury lounger design.
When the Active Supertrac was released, many massage chair critics considered it to be the “luxury massage chair” of the year.
Even if it wasn’t the best chair released that year, it was an outstanding design and contained various advanced technological features.
Many of those new features were developed further, and now they are the most prominent features of OGAWA’s current luxury massage chair designs.
When you think about what you want the most out of a therapeutic lounger, what do you consider?
Most people would say that the most important feature to them is comfort and consistent relaxation.
The Active Supertrac model checked both of those boxes and laid the foundation for the future of luxury massage chairs.
There are numerous factors that you should consider when pondering the type of massage chair that’s for you. Some of these factors include:
Features – High-end models are generally capable of performing a wide variety of functions. Entry-level models may only be able to perform one or two tasks.
Budget – High-end massage chairs are and should be expected to be a significant investment. As with most investments, you tend to get what you pay for. Massage chairs are no different. If you make your choice by finding the lowest price, then you’re likely to be disappointed with the product. Don’t invest in a therapeutic lounger if you can’t afford it, and if your only option is to go for the cheapest device, then it’s best to avoid it altogether.
Warranty and Customer Service – When shopping for a massage chair, you should try to find an option that is manufactured by a trusted brand, like OGAWA. Well-known, trustworthy, experienced companies almost always offer warranties, especially for expensive items that are not meant to be damaged. Moreover, customer service quality is a critical factor to consider when selecting your new massage chair.
Durability and ability to repair the damage – How often do you think you will use your massage chair? Once a week? Every day? Several hours per day? Will other people use the chair? Children? Animals? It should be clear that the more a massage chair is used, the more likely it is to be damaged. If you expect your massage chair to be used often, possibly by multiple people, then you should make sure the model that you select is durable and strong.
Location – Where are you going to place your massage chair? These chairs are often large, cumbersome, and difficult to move. Take measurements of the space where you’d like to keep the device. Compare your area’s measurements to those of the massage chair. You don’t want to purchase an expensive, luxury chair only to find out it doesn’t fit in the only space that you had to keep to it.
Review of Top Models and Alternatives
Remember that the excellent OGAWA brand manufactured all the models we examined in this article.
OGAWA is an industry leader in the luxury massage chair market and has several years of experience.
The brand is an excellent example of the type of company that you should seek out for purchasing your new therapeutic lounger.
Smart 3D – One of the absolute best models in the industry. A huge variety of features. Numerous massage techniques and intensities. Samsung tablet remote control system. It’s the most advanced massage chair ever created.
Active L – The Active L massage chair is one of the newest massage chairs on the market. It’s an incredibly advanced piece of technology, contains a vast array of features and functions. The Active L model isn’t quite at the top-of-the-line, but it’s very close. It’s Ogawa’s newest massage chair and offers an impressive amount of features, innovations, technology, and most importantly, comfort!
Touch 3D – The Touch 3D massage chair can be described as a simpler version of the Smart 3D model. The two models are quite similar to each other, but the Smart 3D contains more features and is more sophisticated. The Touch 3D is an outstanding luxury massage chair. However, if you’re going to invest in a high-end model, we recommend that you spend the extra cost bump up to the Smart 3D.
Refresh Plus – OGAWA’s Refresh Plus model is an outstanding mid-tier massage chair choice. There is a significant price gap from the Refresh Plus to the previously discussed higher-end models. This model massage chair might be an excellent option for you if this is your first massage chair purchase. You’re going to get an outstanding product supported by an ideal brand.
Active Supertrac – In case you missed this part of the review, the Active Supertrac is a discontinued massage chair model. However, when it was released, it was perceived in a similar way that the Smart 3D model is perceived today. The Active Supertrac became the massage chair industry leader and took OGAWA to the top-of-the-line. We reviewed this product to illustrate OGAWA’s history of designing incredible luxurious, high-end massage chairs.
Positive Posture Brio is an affordable, stylish-looking chair, manufactured from dark-brown synthetic leather.
This massage chair can target every part of your body, providing relaxing relief.
While it’s true that the Brio Massage Chair can massage parts of your body missed by other massage chairs in the same price range, it’s also true that the massage intensity is pretty low.
But getting a deep tissue massage might not be the goal for everyone – for instance older adults or people just looking to unwind.
Besides, this chair comes with a fantastic back pad!
I tried the Brio Massage Chair, and I appreciate its ten programmed massages, along with manual techniques.
They might not be high-intensity or offer unique capabilities, but they deliver a good, basic massage.
Plus, for the price, the foot rollers are outstanding because they offer a great sole massage thanks to reflexology foot rollers.
This alleviates arch pain, plantar fasciitis or splay foot pain, apart from being soothing.
Lastly, I appreciate that the remote control combines innovative design with ease of use.
Its functional simplicity helps you select the best option in no-time, even if this chair doesn’t have a memory function.
On the downside, this chair is suited for people under 265 pounds, though it can fit users up to 6’5”.
The L-track is an S-track with some extra length, so it follows the natural curvature of your spine.
That guarantees an effective massage because the rollers will touch every pressure point on your back.
The added length means the rollers will get all the way down to your hamstrings instead of stopping around your mid-section.
It helps alleviate sciatica pain because your glutes and thigh will be thoroughly massaged.
Full Body Air Massage
The Brio Massage Chair offers a full-body compression massage, from your arms, hips, outer thighs to your calves.
With 56 air cells that envelop your whole body, you can count on a quality air massage.
What this means is that the airbags squeeze your muscles, then immediately released so that you can benefit from a life-like chiropractic massage.
This improves your blood pressure, releases tense muscles and relaxes you so that you can enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Wall Hugging Design
This wall hugging design allows you to place the Brio Massage Chair anywhere you want to in your home.
This space-saving technology means you need about 4-inches from the wall for the chair to recline as much as it needs to give you a great massage.
Heat in Back and Feet
Most massage chairs in this price range offer lumbar heat, but the Brio Massage Chair offers lower back and feet heat therapy.
The soothing heat has a relaxing effect, but it can also release tense muscles and improve circulation.
Apart from reducing the risk of various heart-related issues, improved blood circulation also increases your metabolism, which helps fight obesity or immune problems.
Brio Massage Chair features True Zero Gravity®, which places your spine in a neutral position, so your bodyweight presses on the rollers.
It takes pressure away from your spine and accounts for a deeper massage, but also improves your blood circulation, relieves compressed disc pain and alleviates joint pain.
The one zero gravity position offered by the Brio Massage Chair is the norm for massage recliners in this price range, though other recliners provide two or three levels of zero-G.
In this case, you’ll benefit from a 157° back recline and 80° footrest raise.
Acupressure Point Locator
The Acupressure Point Locator scans your body to find pressure points and customize your massage session.
Thanks to the Intelligent True 4D design, the rollers will move up-down, left-right, in-out, but they can move upward from the track too.
Along with the Acupressure Point Locator, your back, glutes, and legs benefit from a thorough massage, with techniques such as Pushing, Rolling, Tapping and Kneading.
Unfortunately, this chair doesn’t offer more advanced techniques such as Shiatsu or Thai.
Sol Massage Chair Features
The Sol Massage Chair delivers a good basic massage via two 15-minute preset session and five manual techniques.
Although it’s reliable, it has no special or therapeutic features, so, if you find it cheap, feel free to buy it – it’s a good investment, and it looks like a gamer’s chair.
The best feature of this chair is its proprietary Comfort Wave motion, which rocks you side to side to improve blood circulation, relax and boost your energy.
Positive Posture Sol also provides one zero-gravity position, which helps take the pressure off your lower back to alleviate spinal pain and joint pain.
Distributing your body weight evenly on the rollers to relieve your spinal joints, this also intensifies the massage, making it deeper.
The Sol also benefits from a 90-day return policy, free returns, and a lifetime labor warranty.
However, this chair is better suited for petite users, under 6’2” and 190 pounds.
Hips & Legs Air Compression
Albeit noisy, the air cells provide an excellent airbag massage.
The therapeutic compression they provide relieves pain around your legs and hips, alleviating sciatica or normal pain after a long day at the office.
The 45-inch roller track goes from your neck all the way down to your glutes.
The track design is ergonomic, following your natural spine curvature, which means the rollers target all your pressure points.
But unlike most massage chairs in the cheap price range, the Sol extends this track under your glutes, to deliver a more comprehensive massage.
USB Charging Port
The USB charging port allows you to charge your phone or tablet while you’re in this chair, which makes it very user-friendly and convenient.
Sol’s compact design allows for placement anywhere in your home or office.
Apart from its small footprint, it’s also designed with space-saving technology so that you can place the chair near a wall.
Lower back heat therapy is quite soothing, but it also helps improve blood circulation and relieve muscle soreness.
This chair is relatively affordable, but other more expensive models include calf and feet heat too.
Positive Posture Brio Massage Chair vs. Infinity IT-8500 (Alternative)
Both the Infinity IT 8500 and IT 8500X3 are better alternatives to Positive Posture Massage Chairs, situated in the midprice range category.
Although these chairs feature an S-track design with quad rollers that is the industry standard, they deliver a functional massage.
Besides, the 3D body scan customizes all sessions according to your pressure points, but you can also readjust the rollers manually.
These are things you saw in the Positive Posture Massage Chairs above.
However, the Infinity chairs feature two zero-gravity positions, for a more deep tissue massage, as well as a plethora of programmed massage sessions, with both advanced and basic massage techniques you can combine.
You can even adjust the massage speed and intensity, while the deep tissue massage feels very therapeutic.
Other therapeutic features include the zone massage function, which allows you to focus on a pressure point for long, the firm body stretch to relieve compressed disc pain and the twist function.
The twist function is much like what a chiropractor would do to your spine for compressed disc pain, and it’s a milder version of the body stretch.
The real stellar feature of these chairs is the inversion therapy, which places you sort of upside down to relieve spinal pain.
On the other hand, the Infinities feature an average air massage mode with 38 airbags, run-of-the-mill lumbar heat and average foot massage with no rollers, just the air cells.
Still, these chairs both have MP3 support, an extendable ottoman for taller people, while the Infinity X3 features Bluetooth compatibility and 4D massage rollers for a more penetrating massage.
This means the rollers will travel away from the S-track to get massage deeper into your back and offer more therapeutic benefits, starting with pain relief.
Where To Buy Positive Posture Recliner and Final Thoughts
You can buy these chairs on the official Positive Posture website, as well as many offline retailers, make sure they offer a good deal regarding delivery, warranty, and returns.
Otherwise, Amazon is a trusted retail website where you can find all that, along with honest user reviews.
That said, though I think Positive Posture massage chairs are reliable enough for hobbyist users with a smaller budget, I prefer the Infinity chairs by far.
They have all the bells and whistles, plus they serve more therapeutic purposes.

Let’s Dive in…
Real Relax Massage Chairs (Models & Review)
Let’s start with the best Real Relax massage chair:
2018 New Real Relax S-TRACK Zero-Gravity Full-Body Robotic 3D Shiatsu Budget Chair
The 2018 New Real Relax is registered with the FDA and features an S-track with rollers that can’t get all the way down to your glutes or upper hamstrings, but offers a good back massage.
The 3D robot hands are one of the best features of this chair, considering they feel life-like and complement the ergonomic S-track design quite well, providing a thorough relaxation massage with 12 options.
There are 6 built-in modes as well as various techniques, including Chinese acupressure.
The Thai stretch is another bonus point, helping you unwind and relieving pain from compressed discs, while the Thai scraping massage experience feels glorious for your feet.
Besides, the rocking feature helps you further relieve pressure from your spine and relax.
The new Real Relax features a zero-gravity design. Even if you have just one zero-G option, the armrest linkage system is a true extra, considering it offers added security.
With 50 air cells for a life-like chiropractic massage, this chair offers a great airbag massage especially for the feet and shoulders, improving blood circulation.
Speaking of which, the lumbar heat therapy helps with blood circulation too, especially since this electric recliner features lumbar vibration as well.
With Bluetooth audio Play included, plus a max weight limit of 441 pounds, the biggest downside with this massage chair is that its weight limit is 6’1”.
3D robot hands
Thai scraping feet massage
Built-in waist heater and vibration
Can handle heavy users
6’1” weight limit
Short track design
Could have more options
Reviews / Summary: It delivers a firm body stretch and is a great chair for relaxation.
2018 Real Relax New SL Track Robotic Zero Gravity Full Body Chair
This Real Relax model sees some improvements, like the SLtracksystem that has all the benefits of an anatomically-correct, S-track, along with the added length of an L-track so that the rollers can massage all the way down to your hamstrings.
The 4D robot hands move along the 145cm track on an up-down, left-right and in-out direction, meaning your spine will benefit from a deep massage.
The airbag massage is still good with this model, but there’s an upgrade: upright-wrapped arms, so your arms can be squeezed and massaged more thoroughly.
Besides, there are more options and techniques available, targeting various body parts with different techniques.
You’ll notice that the Thai scraping massage is still here, but the head massage is an excellent addition.
However, some problems weren’t fixed with this model.
With a 3-year warranty, space-saving design and lumbar heat, the Real Relax SL track have just one-zero G seating position like its predecessor.
Even with an extendable ottoman, this Real Relax massage chair model isn’t for a tall people either, and the neck massage is pretty vigorous.
4D robot hands
Upright wrapped arms design
No feet heat
Not for very tall people
A very vigorous neck massage
Reviews / Summary: The 2018 Real Relax New SL Track Massage Chair comes with some additional therapeutic features that improve blood circulation.
Rosemary’s Full Body Chair
This massage chair recliner features some similarities with the first model we reviewed here, like the S-track.
Albeit ergonomic in terms of following your natural spine curvature, this track design is a bit short, only reaching down to your waist area.
It’s another FDA-registered massage chair that features the life-like 3D robot hands for a deep spine massage, plus the Shiatsu option and the zero-gravity design.
While Shiatsu is an advanced technique that helps improve circulation, zero-gravity places your spine in a neutral position, in a recline angle, so your bodyweight presses on the rollers instead of on your spine.
This chair also has heat and foot rollers plus a Thai scraping massage for deeper relaxation, Bluetooth Audio Play for an immersive experience and a 3-year warranty.
There are also 50 airbags that offer a full-body compression air massage to improve blood circulation, but only 6 built-in programs and 12 total options.
The Thai stretch, Chinese acupressure, and rocking function are still there, though.
The added bonuses are the vibrating feet, apart from the vibrating seat, along with feet heat therapy.
Feet heat and vibration
Short track design
Reviews / Summary: Rosemary’s massage chair is the best in our list in terms of a comprehensive feet massage.
Favor 02 (Discontinued)
A Real Relax Shiatsu massage chair with a 3-year warranty, this model is great for hobbyist users, not people actively seeking to treat chronic back pain.
With 8 stationary points, this chair features no rollers.
This means it can massage some pressure points on your spine, but not all of them, and certainly not in a comprehensive manner.
As such, even if this massage recliner features 4 types of rograms, these offers just variations of speed and intensity.
Basically, no true options apart from the 30-minute Shiatsu massage.
You also get a zero-G position which allows you to relax and intensifies the massage.
However, with no rollers to speak of, you won’t get a deep tissue massage, but the armrest is there to provide additional security.
On the other hand, the air massage is great, with 50 built-in airbags located from your shoulders to your hips.
Even the calf and foot massage is good, albeit a little vigorous, thanks to the added heat therapy and the sole massage.
The seat massage is great if you combine airbags, heat, and vibration, plus you have a built-in music player that’s compatible with USB, Bluetooth, and TF cards.
Electric full body shiatsu
Great calf and foot massage
Built-in music player
No true deep massage
No actual options
Summary: Favor 2 is a budget recliner for hobbyist users looking to get a good foot massage.
Another budget option, Favor 03 is definitely not as good as the 2018 New Real Relax.
Just like Favor 02, there are 8 massage heads inside the backrest, which means no rollers, which means no actual full-back massage.
Just like we discusses above, this means the zero-G option is there just for some added relaxation, while the 4 massage programs are just different intensities of the first massage.
But a definite plus when comparing this to the 2018 New Real Relax massage chair is the foot heaters that make the foot massage better.
Even the airbag massage is fairly good, with 50 airbags that massage you from shoulders to hips.
And just like the 2018 New Real Relax massage chair, Favor 03 offers seat heat and vibration, it has a pretty good weight limit, up to 400 pounds or so, but suits people less than 6’1”.
You can also use it as a recliner sofa chair, the remote control is easy to use, and there are 2 wheels for moving it around.
Speed and intensity variations
Good air massage
Great calf and foot massage
For heavy users
No true deep massage
No actual options
For petite users
Summary: Favor 03 is a chair for heavy, hobbyist users looking for thorough foot and seat massages.
Favor 04 Model
The Favor 04 is another variation in the Favor line, with little improvements to speak of.
Just like the other models, this one features 8 fixed massage points and no rollers, a zero-g seating that doesn’t do much and 4 massage programs that vary in speed and intensity.
With 50 airbags, heat for the seat and feet, seat vibration, recline option, and Bluetooth plus a TF/ USB music player, Favor 04 is a good relaxation chair for hobbyist users.
Speed and intensity variations
Good air massage
Great calf and foot massage
For heavy users
No true deep massage
No actual options
For petite users
Summary: Favor 04 can improve blood circulation and help you relax.
The Better Alternative to Real Relax Massage Chair Models
Kahuna LM 6800 massage chair is a feature-packed, affordable, therapeutic chair that can be a better alternative not just to Real Relax Chairs, but to any chairs.
Here’s what it has to offer: a longer hybrid track that can massage up to your hamstrings, space-saving design, and three zero-gravity positions instead of just one.
All this means you can get a real deep tissue massage with zero problems regarding space.
Another advantage is the 3D body scan, meaning the computer will scan your back for sore spots and massage them more thoroughly.
You can even use the simple remote to adjust the rollers on your back manually.
True enough, there are just 36 airbags with Kahuna, but the airbag massage it offers is on par with the best massage chairs on the market.
With an advanced Shiatsu massage and a firm Yoga Stretch to relieve compressed disc pressure and relax you, Kahuna 6800 has more massage options and built-in programs than any of the Real Relax Massage Chairs above.
There’s even a fixed zone massage option!
While some models above featured a good calf and foot massage, the Kahuna 6800 has this option too, especially since it features calf heat therapy along with lumbar heat.
However, this massage chair doesn’t have an incorporated music system, but that’s a rather small inconvenient.
3 zero-G seating options
Comprehensive kneading massage
Plenty of air cells
Various massage techniques
Full-body shiatsu massage chair
Back and calf heat
No music system
Summary: The Kahuna LM-6800 is a therapeutic chair at an affordable price range.
About Real Relax Massage Chair The Company Review
Company was founded in 2015 and retails made in China massage chairs.
But that doesn’t mean these are bad massage chairs – after all, most of them are certified by the FDA, CE, and ROHS and have a 1 or 3-year warranty.
It features five massage chairs on their website, four of which have the Shiatsu massage option, plus two massage cushions.
However, the return policies aren’t really clear, and various buyers claim to have had troubles returning the chairs.
Where to Buy
One good place to start is their website, where you can benefit from various promotions, shipping, warranties and negotiate free-glove delivery.
However, this website has limited options.
You can find more Real Relax models, even some of the discontinued ones, on websites like Amazon.
The price on Amazon is good; this is a trustworthy website, you can still benefit from good shipping and return options, as well as warranties.
If the budget is a problem for you, you can even find used models on websites like Amazon or Ebay, but the warranties won’t be as good.
Real Relax Massage Chairs are good enough for hobbyist users looking for affordable, relaxing massage recliners, which can compromise massage options for the sake of price.
However, the best alternative if you’re on a budget is the feature-packed therapeutic Kahuna LM6800.
That said, which chair will you get and why? Let’s talk in the comments below!
With an easy-installation and with BIFIMA-certified parts, this BestMassage Midback Mesh chair can support users up to 250 pounds.
Like all computer chairs, it has a wide seat, an adjustable height and reclines to 135-degrees, so it’s a comfortable chair that prevents back pain.
I also like the triangle armrests that provide additional support, but they feel quite low, especially to tall people.
It is made with breathable mesh, this chair sports a seat back curve that’s anatomically correct to the spine’s S-shape. Besides, the nylon lumbar support is quite ergonomic.
With a heavy-duty metal base that’s quite resistant, this chair swivels to 360-degrees so you can easily move around the office.
However, the chair itself is not that durable, and the seat is pretty firm.
Easy to install
Great Support of lumbar area
Not that durable
Summary: The BestMassage Office Chair offers good support, though it’s not extremely durable.
7. KADIRYA High Back Bonded Leather
Best Executive Office Chair
This chair has a stylish, bonded leather design worthy of an executive office. Its high back makes this chair quite imposing, but also comfortable.
Its soft-padded seat with a waterfall edge helps take the pressure off your hamstrings, which means you can use this chair for hours at a time.
Reclining at 120-degrees, this chair allows you to relax during the day, but the levers for reclining feel a bit flimsy.
Besides, the chair is designed in a sort of weird way, so that even in an upright position, you’re reclining a bit backward. Shows them who’s boss, though, right?
On the other hand, its flip-up arms feel quite supportive of your arms and shoulders, and the 360-degree swivel allows you to move around in the office.
This is a durable, stable, BIFIMA-certified chair, with nylon casters and a heavy-duty nylon base that supports up to 250 pounds.
Reclines a bit backward
Recline lever seems a bit flimsy
Summary: The KADIRYA High Back Bonded Leather Office Chair is a comfortable, supportive chair.
8. La-Z-Boy Delano Big & Tall Executive Bonded Leather Chair
Best Executive Chair For Big and Tall People
This chair has chestnut bonded leather upholstery that makes it look extremely elegant, especially in combination with the walnut-colored wood components.
Besides, this leather is quite supple and comfortable, as well as easy to clean, though it makes the chair feel hot. And not hot in a good way.
Besides, the ComfortCore Plus features various layers of memory foam to provide extra cushioning with just the right degree of firmness.
However, some people might say the chair doesn’t feel as soft as they would like with so much extra padding.
The seat is wide, and the chair supports a maximum weight of up to 400 pounds.
You can even adjust the height and tilt to make the chair feel more comfortable or to relax.
The leather gets very hot
Summary: The La-Z-Boy Delano Big & Tall Executive Bonded Leather Chair is an elegant office chair, but with so much padding and leather it gets hot quickly.
9. Steelcase Gesture Chair – Best Computer Chair For Long Hours (If You Are Standing a Lot)
The Steelcase Gesture Chair supports a wide range of technologies and postures, mimicking the natural spine movements.
Its S-shape backrest contours your spine, while the armrests are placed toward the back so you can sit comfortably down.
In fact, the Gesture 360 arm moves just like your arms so that it can support your use of various technological devices.
On the other hand, some users would prefer an arm locking mechanism to stop them from swiveling.
The seat boasts soft edges for prolonged sitting and adaptive bolstering, with air pockets beneath the foam padding, for natural support.
The chair allows you to adjust the seat and back so you can sit comfortably or correct poor posture.
Besides, the Core Equalizer technology offers optimal back support whether you’re reclining or sitting upright.
Armrests allow you to use various devices
Support of lumbar area
No locking mechanism for arm rests
Summary: The Steelcase Gesture Chair is a futuristic-looking chair that’s comfortable and allows you to use various devices.
10. Argomax Black High Back Desk
Best Office Chair For Sciatica Pain
The Argomax Office Chair is out top choice for sciatica pain sufferers because it’s ergonomic and has easily adjustable headrest, backrest, and padded armrests.
As such, this chair promotes the correct posture. Besides, the Smart Auto-adaptive Base allows the backrest to adjust accordingly to your weight.
The chair is easy to adjust with just one lever, it tilts back to 135ᵒ and has a three-way lock mechanism.
The S-shaped backrest is anatomically correct, providing good support to your neck and back, thus easing sciatica pain.
Certified by BIFMA and SGS, this chair has a sturdy nylon and glass fiber frame, with a breathable mesh backrest.
The seat is padded with dense foam, which makes it firm enough to be comfortable if you have sciatica.
Besides, the waterfall edge is comfortable for long hours sitting down, but the armrests could be more adjustable.
Easily adjustable headrest and backrest
Promotes correct posture
Needs more adjustable armrests
AmazonBasics High-Back Executive Chair – Amazon Best Seller
(Amazon TOP Pick)
An affordable office chair, the AmazonBasics Executive swivel chair, back feels comfortable enough and looks stylish.
Upholstered in bonded black leather and PVC, this chair is easy to clean and smooth, but makes you easily sweat if you don’t have the AC turned on.
The padded backrest and seat are quite comfortable for prolonged hours seating, while the 360-degree swivel with smooth-rolling casters allow you to move around the office easily.
Even with a 1-year limited warranty, this chair has a pretty long life, if you respect the 250 pounds maximum weight limit.
On the other hand, continuous use might make the chair squeak a bit. The backrest also reclines ever so slightly under your body weight, though this is said to promote a natural posture.
Doesn’t let you lean forward
Not a breathable upholstery
Can become squeaky
Summary: The AmazonBasics High-Back Chair looks great and has a long life, but might begin to squeak.
BestMassage Home Office Chair Desk
A stable, cushioned, comfortable chair that rolls easily on carpets but isn’t exactly ergonomic. However, it’s comfortable to sit in for extended periods (long periods of time), but not great for people with lower back pain.
Steelcase Leap Chair
A truly ergonomic chair, the Steelcase Leap is supportive and allows your spine to move in a natural manner, adjusting to your movements thanks to the patented LiveBack technology.
The only downside is that there’s little padding in the seat, so it’s not really comfortable to sit for hours at a time.
Black PU Leather Ergonomic
An executive chair that sports good quality for the money, this chair is generously padded and boasts a sturdy metal base. However, it leans back ever so slightly, and the leather upholstery feels sort of hot.
KADIRYA Ergonomic High Back Leather Chair
A comfortable, adjustable chair, with a swivel design and fine PU leather, the KADIRYA High-Back Chair is another stylish executive chair.
A breathable chair with built-in lumbar support, IKEA Markus is a great gaming chair. On the other hand, it doesn’t sport a lot of adjustment options.
Poly and Bark Inverness Ergonomic Chair
An adjustable, breathable and ergonomic office chair, the Poly and Bark office chair is versatile but rather big and heavy.
Serta Mid Back Office Chair
Serta Office Chair features Air kinetic support of a lumber area and sports ergo layered body pillows, but there aren’t many adjustments it allows.
AmazonBasics MidBack Mesh Chair
Comfortable enough and with a padded seat, plus pneumatic seat-height adjustment, this Amazon Basics Chair could support more weight.
Humanscale Freedom Chair – Top Office Chair For Back and Neck Pain
Designed to fit 95% of the office population and with a dynamic neck and head support during the recline, Humanscale Freedom is great for back and neck pain.
However, it’s better for gaming, when you need to constantly recline.
How We Rated / What to Look / Things to Consider
Here are the issues we took into account:
This was a top factor for us. A basic chair offers adjustments for the height and armrests. The more fully adjustable features chair offers, the better it is because it’s versatile and can fit a larger number of people.
2. Lumbar Support
We also took into account support, especially since a lot of people suffer from sciatica or other ailments which trigger lower back chronic pain.
Chair that provides support has an S-shaped backrest, is ergonomic and follows the natural, anatomical movements of your body.
That way, your lower back doesn’t round forward.
3. How They Roll
Rolling chairs allow you to move around the office, avoiding the strain caused by over-extending your arms to reach something.
The wheelbase and 360-degree swivel is an important factor to consider, as well as if a certain chair can easily glide over carpeted areas or not.
Synthetic, mesh upholstery is more affordable, breathable and helps keep your back cool. On the other hand, leather looks more stylish and is softer, but it’s expensive and gets hot pretty fast unless you have the AC on.
You also need a chair with a sturdy, metal or hardwood base.
You want a comfortable chair, and cushioning is an important part of that. Too little cushioning gives you back pain, while too much cushioning puts too much pressure on your hamstrings.
In terms of padding, the best chairs are the ones that feel comfortable, yet firm, allowing you to move naturally.
Frequently Asked Questions
HowCan You Move More During the Day?
There are many tips and tricks you can apply to get a bit of exercise during the day. For instance, you can start by taking a walk during your lunch break.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator, and when you have a meeting with someone, opt to stand.
If you need to tell something to one of your co-workers, go talk to them instead of sending an e-mail.
You can even put your phone alarm to ring every 50 minutes so you can get up and stretch your legs if nothing else works.
Why is Sitting So Bad For You?
Sitting is bad mainly because our bodies weren’t made for sitting. For thousands of years, humans had jobs that rarely allowed them to sit.
Seated desk-jobs are a modern invention, just like our spending a lot of time in cars instead of walking.
Sitting puts a lot of pressure on your pelvic bones doesn’t allow your spine to move naturally and makes your muscles tense up.
Besides, desk jobs strain your neck and shoulder muscles (unless using a standing desk), which tend to lift up to your ears instead of sitting in a relaxed, position. One of the solutions is to have a good chair (if you gonna sit anyways) or by investing in the best standing desk
How Do You Choose the Best Ergonomic Office Chair for Lower Back Pain?
If you have lower back pain, you need to make sure that your office chair is supportive, with adjustable headrest, backrest, and armrests.
Your arms should be at a slightly downward angle, and your seat shouldn’t be too soft, but rather the right amount of firm.
Make sure the seat is comfortable, though.
For instance, waterfall edges help take the pressure off your hamstrings, while too much seat padding putts pressure on your glutes, which in turn activates your lower back pain.
The backrest should have an ergonomic S-shape that accommodates your spine or be able to follow your natural spine movements.
That way, the chair helps distribute your upper back weight evenly, so it doesn’t press on your lower back any more.
If you can also find an office chair that reclines, it’s even better.
You can take little breaks and recline backward, so your chair takes the pressure of your weight for a while.
Where To Buy
Testing your office chair is important, which is why you can either buy it from a store or get a chair with a satisfaction guarantee/ return warranty.
Regardless of the place where you buy the chair, a return warranty is a must, so that’s why I like Amazon with its 30-day return policy.
Besides, Amazon is a trustworthy place with great shipping fees.
Either way, make sure you choose a trustworthy retailer or online website to make your purchase.
Do a little bit of research about the store first too, and check things like shipping options, warranties and return policies before making up your mind.
I’ve taken you through a series of the best rated office chairs on the market, with top contenders for each category.
Some fit executives; some are great for chronic pain, so choose wisely according to your own needs. My reviews of standing desks (stand desks) are coming soon.
Tell me if this is you: you love massages, but your local massage therapist or chiropractor wants to beat stress and pain out of your body. Which feels quite painful, right?

We’ve talked to experts, read countless reviews and ended up with a buying guide of the Best Panasonic Massage Chairs.
Because no brand is perfect, right? So read along.
About the Company
Panasonic has been on the market for over 100 years and it now signifies technological advancement.
Form electronics to industry, Panasonic can do it all. Yes, including massage chairs.
Best Panasonic Massage Chair Models
Without further ado, here are our top picks:
Panasonic EP-MA70 Massage Chair
The Panasonic EP-MA70 is a stylish full body massage chair recliner that looks like a piece of living room furniture, and the hideaway ottoman definitely helps with this.
This model features an S-track design with quad rollers that follow your spine’s anatomical shape and mimic the touch of human hands.
The EP-MA70 features a 3D body scan that subtly adjusts the roller position to massage your sore spot.
If the computer misses, you can also manually adjust the rollers yourself.
We love the 3D massage head too that are extremely flexible and can give a deep tissue massage, but the chair is better suited for people shorter than 6’2”.
Besides, the massage rollers are heated, which is something different from heat therapy, giving the impression of the human touch.
Unfortunately, there’s no actual lumbar or calf heat to accompany the warm rollers.
The EP MA70 has a lot of options, starting with advanced massage styles like Junetsu, Shiatsu, and Swedish along with the basic Kneading, Rolling and Tapping.
There are 6 built-in massage routines, along with a true deep tissue massage, air massage mode with 33 airbags and a memory function with three slots.
Even the calf and foot massage is done completely with airbags, but this feels less dynamic than a roller massage, especially for the sole.
No heat therapy
Airbag foot and calf massage
For petite users
No zero gravity
Summary: The Panasonic EP-MA70 is feature-packed and offers a life-like massage, but could benefit from heat therapy and zero-G.
Best Alternative – Kahuna LM6800
The Kahuna LM6800 is a truly therapeutic chair with a lot of amazing features, starting with its space-saving design.
The first advantage when compared to the Panasonic EP-MA70 is the hybrid L/S track design that can get up to your glutes.
Other advantages are the 3 zero gravity seating positions and heat therapy for both the back and calves.
In terms of air massage, the Kahuna is comparable to Panasonic EP-MA70, with 36 massage cells, but it has one additional massage technique: Kneading & Tapping Combination. Another advantage is the zone massage option.
This value-for-money chair offers a good foot and calf massage too, but it doesn’t have heated rollers that improve all massages.
Besides, it also doesn’t have a memory function, and the Panasonic EP-MA70 arguably feels more lifelike.
3 zero-G positions
Zone massage option
Back and calf heat therapy
Shiatsu massage chair
No memory function
No heated rollers
Summary: The Kahuna LM6800 is a great option for reducing back pain thanks to its heated rollers and 3 zero gravity positions.
A top-end massage chair, the Panasonic EP-MA73 is another therapeutic chair that can easily blend in with your living room décor.
Just like the EP-MA70, this model features an S-track and quad rollers for a truly human touch, 3D body scan to identify your pressure points plus manual adjustment of the roller position.
This model also features heated massage rollers but boasts extra lumbar and foot heat.
It has a hideaway ottoman to use it as a regular chair but, unfortunately, the ottoman doesn’t extend, so the chair isn’t particularly comfortable for people who are taller than 6’2”.
The chair features the same massage techniques: Kneading, Rolling, Taping, Junetsu, Shiatsu, and Swedish, plus 6 built-in programs, with three levels of speed and intensity.
The adjustable timer is another benefit, but the air massage is comparable to that of the EP-MA70, with just 36 Second Generation airbags.
However, the improvement is that the calf and foot massage is done with airbags and rollers too, and there are various full-body or partial stretches, along with 3 memory slots.
The true downside? No zero gravity again!
Heated massage rollers
Lumbar and foot heat therapy
Full-body or partial stretches
No zero gravity
For petite users
Air massage could be better
Summary: A stylish, therapeutic chair, the Panasonic EP-MA73 could really use some zero-G.
Panasonic MAJ7 Real Pro Ultra Premium 3D
The Panasonic MAJ7 has various therapeutic benefits to improve flexibility and decrease pain, starting with its SL-track design.
It’s a quiet chair that boasts 37 air cells and heated rollers, but its best feature is the Shiatsu sole massage.
The 3D independent massage heads feel quite natural so that you can massage the lower core both vertically, horizontally and in front.
There are 6 built-in massage programs, plus the already-mentioned techniques like Junetsu, Shiatsu, Swedish, Kneading and Rolling/Tapping, but you can get up to 158 combinations between these.
The chair is very comfortable, it delivers great zone-focused air massages and amazing toes and sole massage, arch kneading, and massage, it even reclines 170-degrees!
The downsides: no heat therapy or zero-gravity, as well as no incorporated music system.
Shiatsu sole massage
3D independent massage heads
The chair reclines
No heat therapy
Summary: The Panasonic MAJ7 offers the best feet and sole massages, but it lacks heat therapy and zero-G.
Best Alternative – Luraco iRobotics i7
The Luraco i7 offers an inferior S-track design, but it’s listed with the FDA, CE, and UL, plus it’s built for medical purposes.
This chair features a full body scan, has 5 memory slots, you can pause it, and there are incorporated blood pressure and heart rate monitor.
Other advantages include full body heat therapy, body shape detection which improves the body scan function, and a 3-layer foot and calf massage.
It can also fit bigger people, has one zero-gravity position and boasts 10 W Bluetooth speakers.
Even if it boasts plenty of massage options for partial or full body, along with massaging techniques such as Kneading, Tapping, Kneading and Tapping, Rolling, Swedish and Shiatsu, it doesn’t have as many combinations as the MAJ7.
Besides, the MAJ7 offers a superior sole massage and looks better.
5 memory slots
Increase blood flow
Body shape detection
Not as many combinations
Doesn’t look like living room furniture
Summary: The Luraco i7 is a good therapy massage lounger, but it doesn’t look as stylish as the MAJ7.
Panasonic EP-MA73KU Real Pro Ultra
The Panasonic EP-MA73KU Real Pro Ultra has many of the same characteristics of the Panasonic EP-MA73, such as multi-directional massage rollers, Shiatsu thermal foot massage, 3D massage system, and 33 air cell system.
The techniques it uses are Knead, Junetsu, Shiatsu, Swedish and Rolling/Tapping, but it also employs partial and full-body massage at different speeds and intensities.
Basically, there are about 110 combinations you can choose from.
Still, there’s no music, zero-G or heat therapy, though it has a precise body scanning technology that can figure out over 1000 acupoints.
The ceramic foot heaters are another definite advantage.
Thermal foot massage
3D massage technology
110 massage combinations
Precise body scan
No heat therapy
Summary: The Panasonic EP-MA73KU Real Pro Ultra is the best Panasonic massage chair for foot massage therapy.
Panasonic EP30007 – Currently Unavailable
The Panasonic EP30007 boasts an S-track design, good 3D body scan, manual roller adjustment buttons plus a wide plethora of options and combinations.
With techniques such as Junetsu, Shiatsu, Swedish, Kneading, Tapping, Grasping, Rolling and Stretching plus 5 pre-programmed massage routines, the “Deep Massage Program” is the best.
There are various intensities, 36 Second Generation Airbags for a superior air massage, an extendable ottoman to accommodate people up to 6’4”, but the foot massage is done just with airbags, not rollers.
Still, we love the granular body stretch option that can be used either for the whole body or partially.
Other user-friendly characteristics include an adjustable timer, memory function with a staggering 24 slots and an easy-to-use remote.
Plenty of options
24 memory slots
No heat therapy
Airbag foot massage
Summary: With so many free memory slots, this massage recliner is better suited for people who want to set their own options.
Panasonic EP Real Pro Luxury
At a more convenient price, this massage chair recliner boasts some great features like multi-directional thermal massage roller, Shiatsu foot massage, plus palm and arm massage.
There are various techniques used, including Knead, Rolling, Tapping, Shiatsu, Swedish and 10 Junetsumassaging techniques.
A huge benefit is the 110 manual combinations between these techniques and intensity levels, though.
The 3D massage system is another strong point, along with the 33 air cells for a decent air massage.
Made from synthetic leather and aiming to mimic hot-stone therapy, this chair is intended to sooth, stretch and relax sore muscles.
The Dual Zone Heated Massage plus body scan are other advantages. Unfortunately, this chair also doesn’t offer music connection, heat therapy or zero gravity.
Palm and arm relax massage
Shiatsu foot massage
10 Junetsu massage techniques
No heat therapy
Summary: The Panasonic EP Real Pro Luxury is a feature-packed, affordable massage chair, but boasts just some basic functions.
There are various features that recommend the Panasonic EP-MA70CX, like the 3D multi-directional double-heated rollers, 8 manual programs, intensity control adjustment, plus height and width adjustment.
This chair offers a comprehensive massage courtesy of 33 airbags and automatic massage body-scan, such as waist, seat, hip, glutes, and leg massage.
This is a power-reclining chair with a program time indicator, 3 memory slots, voice guidance, pivoting ottoman and removable cushion that offers 108 massage combinations.
However, a massage cycle lasts just 16 minutes; there’s no heat therapy, nor zero-G.
Short massage cycle
No heat therapy
Summary: A massage chair that’s easy to adjust and perfect for short massages, the Panasonic EP-MA70CX could use some heat therapy.
Best Alternative – Infinity IT-8500
The IT-8500 has an ergonomic, S-track design with quad rollers, boasts 3D body scan, air massage and some of the same massage techniques.
However, it shines in comparison to the Panasonic EP-MA70CX by its lumbar heat and two zero-gravity seating positions.
Courtesy of the zone massage function and full body stretch, the Infinity is a very relaxing chair.
It also features body twist and inversion therapy for additional therapeutic advantages.
Besides, the Infinity IT8500 is also a very user-friendly chair, with Bluetooth connection and optional app control that’s arguably easier than using a remote.
2 zero-gravity positions
Zone massaging features
Optional app control
No heated rollers
No memory function
Not as many options
Summary: The IT 8500 has more therapeutic massage functions like inversion therapy and 2 zero-G positions, but it’s not as customizable as the Panasonic EP-MA70CX.
The Panasonic EP MA10 has a small footprint, but that makes it better suited for people under6’2”.
Just like most Panasonic chairs, especially affordable ones, this recliner features an S-track with quad rollers that deliver a decent massage.
Another good feature is the reliable 3D body scan with manual control, but there are just three massaging techniques: Kneading, Rolling and Tapping, along with four pre-programmed massage routines that include Deep, Swedish, lower back and neck/shoulder.
Although there are three intensity levels, the default duration is just 15 minutes.
The neck massage this chair offers is great, thanks to the Neck Knead and Neck Shiatsu options.
With 36 total massage combinations and limited air massage mode with 14second generation airbags, the Panasonic EP MA10 delivers a decent massage, though the leg massage is the best.
However, the foot massage could be done with rollers, not just airbags, to make it more intense.
Great neck massage
Great leg massage
No heat therapy
No heated rollers
Short massage time
Airbag foot massage
Summary: The Panasonic EP MA10 is great for petite users who need to improve chronic neck pain.
Panasonic EP-1285KL “Urban”
This good-looking, leather chair doesn’t just look good; it also has some quality features for the price, such as advanced quad-style massagers and auto recline.
There are 14 airbags to offer a pretty decent airbag massage, along with 4 preset massage programs that are quite therapeutic: Shiatsu, Swedish, Chiro, and Quick.
The remote is easy to use and helps you personalize your massage, selecting from 8 manual massage modes: Knead, Compression, Swedish, Hawaiian, Full & Regional Roll, Soft Shiatsu and Tapping.
Besides, the deep neck/shoulder massage feels very real, imitating a chiropractor’s rolling wrists.
Unfortunately, there’s no zero-G, heat of any kind or memory function.
Plenty of options
No heated rollers
No heat therapy
Summary: The Panasonic Urban is the chair to buy for a stellar neck massage.
Top Panasonic Budget Model – Swede-Atsu Companion Massage Lounger
The top budget model in this review, the Swede-Atsu is approved by the American Chiropractic Association.
This chair offers deep-tissue massages courtesy of its firm rubber massage heads, which also feel very life-like.
You’ll get a vigorous, neck, shoulder and back massage, while the Dual-Use ottoman massages your lower body.
The Stretch system feels great on your lower body, while the air massage will squeeze your legs while the ottoman raises or lowers them gradually.
The massage techniques included are Shiatsu, Compression, Hawaii, and Percussion, with 4 built-in programs and 5-speed intensities.
However, this chair also doesn’t offer any sort of heat, zero-G or extraordinary functions, focusing on basic massages.
For those reasons, the Kahuna 6800 is a reliable alternative.
Great deep-tissue massages
Amazing leg massages
Decent overall massages
No extraordinary functions
Summary: This is the perfect chair to improve chronic lower back pain, including Sciatica, but it otherwise offers basic massages.
About Panasonic Massage Chairs
Panasonic best massage chairs are found in a wide range of prices.
There aren’t a ton of Panasonic chairs models, just 8 currently retailed on their website, most of which lack great features like heat therapy or zero gravity.
They could also use some music system, after all, Panasonic handles that too.
However, Panasonic brags about their chairs being Zengineered, which brings some Zen into the mix.
Basically, they want to relax and soothe you, not pound you with therapy, which explains why they lack some of the qualities above.
Still, the Panasonic chairs are all quality-made by a reputable brand so that you can count on their durability and functionality.
Where to Buy
One idea is the Panasonic website or authorized Panasonic dealers.
However, if you want to browse some reviews too, and not just read the official specs, you can try Amazon.
This is a trustworthy website, with great shipping and return options.
Our Final Conclusion
The best model in this review is the Panasonic EP-MA70, which is stylish, adjustable and mimics the human touch.
But there are better alternatives for each Panasonic model that we discussed above, such as the Kahuna LM6800 for the under $2500 price range, the Infinity 8500 for the under $5500, and the Luraco i7 for the over $7000 category.
That said, which chair will you get and why? Let’s talk in the comments below.

Top 7 Best Massage Chair & Recliner Models in 2019
World’s Best Massage Chairs
You already know my opinion, I’m a Luraco i7 Plus fan through and through. But there are other models to review, so let’s get to it!
1. Luraco i7 Plus – #1 Best Overall
This Luraco medical massager is one of the best massage chairs TODAY (actually THE BEST in my opinion) I could find because it features tons of quality characteristics, all rounding up its medical purpose.
Firstly, the chair is designed and manufactured in the US, which isn’t something you see every day.
Besides, it’s listed with the FDA, CE, and UL, so you can rely on its high-tech and heavy-duty construction.
Among its most special features, the 5 memory settings are really user-friendly.
You can also adjust the massage intensity and speed, plus select different body parts for a terrific type of massage.
Hint: the foot massage was absolutely heaven. Among the manual techniques, Kneading and Tapping with various speed controls feel great.
The pause and resume buttons are another user-friendly characteristics: you can simply stop and have the Luraco focus on the sorest spot on your body.
And thanks to the 10WBluetooth speakers, you can enjoy a truly immersive massage experience.
You? Who’s you? Well, everyone up to 300 pounds, with a height between 4’7” to 6’7” – this is a chair built for everyone!
There are even built-in blood pressure and heart rate monitor and full-body heat!
The 3D massage feels great, with all the proven benefits of deep-tissue massages, like better circulation and reduced chronic pain.
The Zero-gravity feature is another plus, considering that all your weight is taken by the rollers, so it makes for a soothing massage that can help you fall asleep easily.
The S-track design follows the natural curve of your spine, which some people say has fewer benefits than an L-track or a hybrid track – but I’ll discuss that below.
Still, with the rollers being able to move 3 inches from their track, this massage is deep and as great as that given by a licensed chiropractor.
Built in the US
Listed with the FDA, CE, and UL
5 memory massage settings
Immersive massage experience
Human like feel
Accommodating to a wide array of body types
Maybe the price (heavy on the maybe)
The track design could be improved
Summary: The Luraco i7 Plus is a therapeutic massage chair that could only be made better by a more affordable price.
2. Human Touch Novo XT2 – 2nd Best
This polyurethane chair may be imported, but it’s designed in the USA – a first similarity with the Luraco.
However, I love its space-saving design, you just need a 2-inch wall clearance to use it comfortably.
It’s also a user-friendly chair thanks to the Altec Lansing premium sound system that’s again very immersive, thanks to the soothing nature sounds. Premium features are close one of Luraco, but sounds system (if that is important to you) is the best in the industry, which also make this chair one of the best massage chairs available.
A significant difference when comparing this to the Luraco is the hybrid SL track design that follows the anatomical spine curve and also increases the massage coverage to your buttocks and thighs.
The foot massage is great with this robotic massage chair, especially since the underfoot rollers can be adjusted, harnessing the true power of reflexology.
You even get Cloud touch acupressure with this chair thanks to a penetrating air massage.
I also loved the Flex 3D massage technology, very similar to that of the Luraco, especially since you get various intensity massage settings here too.
And you can count on the dual lumbar heat to loosen tight back muscles and ease chronic sciatica pain, though the Luraco features full body heat.
With 35 auto-programs you can test, the full body stretch program is probably the one I loved the most.
I also loved the 2 zero-gravity positions, but the Luraco is more of a mecial massage chair.
Human Touch XT2 is second winner!
8 built-in nature tracks
2 zero-gravity massage
Lots of options
Long massage stroke
Heat stretched muscles
No calf heat
No memory settings
Summary: The Novo XT2 is a feature-packed reclining massage chair you can easily customize, but it could use some memory settings.
3. Infinity Presidential Massage Chair – 3d Best
A 3D L-track chair with all the features you can expect from a world’s best luxurious massage chair, including foot rollers, executive zero gravity, space-saving design, Bluetooth, Apple/Droid apps, and postural correction. But let’s take them one at a time.
The Hybrid L/S track is 49 inches long, so the massage rollers can easily get from your neck and shoulders to your hamstrings.
Besides, the rollers feel quite life-like and, if that’s not enough, the 3D body scanning is just what you need to make sure the chair focuses on your pressure points.
If the computer’s wrong, you can easily adjust the roller position yourself, with the remote!
The Infinity Presidential features zero-gravity seating too, so your knees are lifted up, and the rollers give a truly penetrating massage.
I also loved the wide array of manual massage types offered, from the basic Kneading, Tapping, Knocking, Combo to the more advanced Shiatsu.
But the Music Sync option was heaven: I could actually sync the massage rhythm to the beat of my favorite tracks.
Hint: try Ode to Joy if you want to feel fresh as a cucumber!
I also like the speed intensity adjustment and the air mode with more than 40 air cells included to massage your head, neck, arms, butt, feet, and legs.
The lumbar heat and waist twist are great features too, this robotic massage chair is Bluetooth-compatible and comes with an extendable massage recliner and ottoman.
With so many outstanding features, why is this chair ranked third in my review?
Well, it doesn’t have any memory setting, plus the Luraco has a more penetrating, deep-tissue therapeutic massage, while the XT2 offers a more immersive experience. Bronze medal for the Presidential!
Music Sync massage
Full Featured Full body Shiatsu massage chair
No memory settings
No calf heat
Summary: The Infinity Presidential is a luxurious massage chair for great soothing massages.
4. Inada Dreamwave Massage Chair – 4th
The S-Track design is fairly standard, but it certainly delivers a quality massage thanks to features like the 3D body scan, which allows the computer to find your sore spots and adjust the massage rollers accordingly, though you can manually adjust them too.
The zero-gravity seating is another great feature, but you get just one position – I know, I was a bit let down too, especially since this chair is so customizable.
Speaking of which, there are 16 built-in massage options such as the Human Hands, Kneading, Double Knead, Tapping, Combo, and Shiatsu, plus various speed, intensity, and roller width adjustments. Lucky me – the remote is easy to use.
The Air Mode offers 101 second-generation airbags, you can change the air pressure and choose to massage different body parts individually.
The timer’s adjustable, you get individual back and seat heat, vibration massage, body stretch, a thorough calf, and foot massage, so why isn’t this chair ranked first?
Well, there’s no way to control the temperature, no MP3 support, no space-saving technology, and the S-track feels pretty short.
No temperature controls
No space-saving technology
Just one zero-G
Short track design
5. Osaki 3D Pro Ekon Massage Chair (8999$) – 5th
This body massager chair comes with some special features of its own, like the high-end 3D L-track design, which gives you an immersive, deep and electric full body massage all the way from the neck to the back of your thighs.
I loved the sliding base too because it’s so user-friendly, while the fiberglass exterior is truly unique – I have rarely seen such an enduring chair.
Besides, remember that the Osaki Pro Ekon is made by the same guys who manufactured the now discontinued Infinity Iyashi massage chair.
Yes, in the same factory! But what I adored is the calf massage.
With a combination of kneading plus the roller on the back, the Pro Ekon delivers the absolute best calf massage when compared to any other robotic massager ever made. Told you I liked this massage.
Apart from that, there’s the 3D massager technology, lumbar heat, auto-body scan, zero gravity and hybrid track – with all the benefits I’ve explained above and will detail later on too.
There are 6 built-in programs and 6 massage techniques, even a Bluetooth connection.
What I would have liked to see more on this chair, especially considering the price is calf heat, adjustable heat temperature, more than one zero-G position, and more massage options, apart from the basic ones plus the Shiatsu.
But it’s still one of the best chairs on the market!
Best calf massage ever
High-end 3D L-track
3D massage for a human like experience
No adjustable heat temperature
Just one zero-G
Not as many massage options
No calf heat
Summary: The Pro Ekon delivers amazing calf massages and I promise it’s the last time I mention it here.
6. Ogawa Smart 3D – 6th
The Ogawa Smart 3D is not the most stylish chair I’ve seen and the LED lights might look a little kitschy but boy, do they work!
These chromotherapy lights help you relax and immerse yourself in the massage experience.
This chair is pretty big and heavy, but it’s designed with space-saving technology, so you need just a 4-inch clearance to fit it in.
I also liked the L-track design and quad rollers, so you can get a deep massage from your neck to your hamstrings.
The Ogawa Smart 3D features two zero-G seating positions to maximize your overall experience and deliver a deeper massage.
Besides, there’s that 3D in the name which means the rollers move on the length, width, and depth of an imagined parallelepiped, pressing into your back for a deep tissue massage.
This chair has 17 auto-programs, body-specific options, plus six techniques, four of which are advanced (Balinese, Chinese, Japanese and Swedish).
Plus the Thai option is a great, relaxing full-body stretch.
You can customize all these options, create and save your changes, adjust the timer or even choose a manual massage.
And the 64 second-generation airbags deliver a great air massage, there’s lumbar heat, but the calf and foot massage isn’t that great.
With no sole massagers and just airbags to massage your feet, you can understand why it’s not that vigorous.
Besides, the remote is pretty difficult to use because you haven’t got one!
Instead, the Android tablet with the app is intuitive, with a special diagnostics section.
Easy to customize
Tablet instead of remote
Great air massage
No foot rollers
No feet heat
Summary: The Ogawa Smart 3D is one of the easiest to customize chairs I’ve ever tried, but the foot massage is pretty average.
7. Osaki Pro Maestro Massage Chair – 7th
The Osaki Pro Maestro has some unique features, starting with the 4D massage it offers.
Very much like what a chiropractor would do, the rollers move on 3 different directions, but they also come out a few inches from their position to give you a deeper massage.
There’s zero-gravity too, but it’s pretty standard when compared to other robotic massage chairs.
The L-track massage can get up to your hamstrings, which is another great thing.
So here’s the cherry on the cake: the heated back roller! It’s different than lumbar heat, you get a warm massage anytime you use this chair.
However, the roller is just warm and I also would’ve liked to see some back and calf heat.
Still, the foot massage is amazing, using a foot and calf Kneading technique.
Speaking of techniques, there are 4 massage styles, but just the basic ones (Kneading, Tapping, Rolling) plus Shiatsu, along with 8 auto-programs. Would have liked to see more options here too, though.
But with a backrest scanning, space-saving design, Bluetooth connection and easy-to-use remote, this chair is definitely among the best on the market!
Heated back roller
No real heat therapy
One zero-G level
Summary: The Osaki Pro Maestro can provide a warm, soothing massage, though it doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles.
Middle Price Range Chairs (Around 5500$)
Now that you’ve seen my top 7 chairs, let’s see what some more affordable options you can find on the market.
8. Infinity It 8500 & Infinity It 8500X3 – #1 in Midprice Range Category
The Infinity IT 8500 features an S-track design with quad rollers, which are fairly standard but still deliver a functional massage.
The 3D body scanning allows the computer to find pressure points on your body, but you can also adjust the rollers yourself – always a plus.
The Zero-Gravity seating is another plus, especially with two positions that allow you to reap the benefits of a penetrating massage.
There are also six massage techniques offered, but only one advanced: Shiatsu, which is the industry standard for the price range.
BUUUT: you can combine any two techniques thanks to the dual action feature!! Loved it!
There are also four auto massage programs that you can adjust in speed, though you can’t adjust the intensity.
I also loved the deep massage, but I admit it might be too much for the average users, who can only decrease the intensity in appearance by reducing the speed.
However, this is a mistake corrected by the Infinity IT 8500X3.
I also loved the spot massage function which allows you to focus on a sore spot as well as on a specific region.
The air massage mode is pretty average though, with 38 Second Generation airbags and 5 intensity levels.
The lumbar heat is fairly decent for treating lower back pain, but hands-down the best feature of the Infitinty IT 8500 is the body stretch, which is quite firm.
This chair features a twist function for your spine, which feels like what a chiropractor would do.
Besides, you can also adjust the speed! Inversion therapy is another stellar feature of the Infinity IT 8500, offering the same benefits on your spine as the swivel function, but at low impact.
You also get a decent calf and foot massage, but it’s not that intense – just with the airbags and all.
The chair features MP3 support, an extendable ottoman for taller users – so it’s pretty user-friendly.
The Infinity X3 sees some great additions, like more built-in programs, remote adjustable intensity, Bluetooth compatibility, plus a 4D massage courtesy of traveling rollers that can get 3 inches from the track.
Still, the X3 has a less adjustable timer – you can only choose between a 10-minute or a 30-minute massage.
Dual action feature to combine massage techniques
No intensity adjustment for the IT 8500
No calf heat
No memory functions
No roller calf massage
Summary: The Infinity IT 8500 is a perfect chair for inversion therapy and features some surprising combinations!
9. Ogawa Touch 3D Massage Chair
The Ogawa Touch 3D Massage Chair is pretty niche and you either love it or hate it.
Starting with its design, you can appreciate that it doesn’t want to pretend it’s a piece of furniture, plus it’s pretty huge and doesn’t have a space-saving design, so you need to place it more than 31 inches away from a wall.
The good news is that it can fit taller people too, up to 6’5”.
Massage-wise, I enjoyed a 3D roller massage, which is fairly deep. I also liked the two Zero-G seating positions that made me feel weightless and relaxed.
Besides, the chromotherapy which uses built-in LED lights made me doze off faster than watching the Weather Channel.
You will also appreciate the body scanning that allows the chair to find your sore spots and how easy it is to control the roller position with the tablet.
What I’m not a big fan of is the short S-track design that didn’t massage my glutes or hamstrings.
Besides, the dual rollers aren’t as good as quad rollers (unless you want a deeper intensity), but the chair compensated through various techniques, 9 basic and 4 advanced that include Balinese, Japanese, Shiatsu and Swedish.
There are also 5 speeds and 6 intensities to customize your massage from light to deep.
With spot and partial massage, air with 64 Second Generation airbags and 5 different intensity setings, lumbar heat and Bluetooth speakers, the Ogawa massage chair is quite user-friendly.
Not to mention the USB charging port and touchscreen tablet you can watch movies on.
There’s also a diagnostic section, but you need to invest a bit of time to learn how to master this chair first.
Plenty of options
Foot and calf massage
Summary: This is a feature-packed chair that’s perfect for alleviating chronic back pain.
10. Titan Pro Jupiter XL Massage Chair
The Titan Pro Jupiter XL Massage Chair features an L-track that goes from your neck all the way to your hamstrings.
It can fit people between 5’ to 6’6”, who can benefit from a deep massage courtesy of 3D rollers.
The body scanning technology used is up to date, accurate and allows you to massage all your sore spots.
The dual action foot massagers are another good feature, especially in combination with the airbags.
This is one of the best scraping massages I’ve ever tried!
The zero gravity recline features two positions, the second that lifts your knees and legs above heart level.
I also appreciated the space-saving design which means you only need about 3 inches from the wall to use this chair.
And since there are Bluetooth speakers plus a microphone built-in, you can listen to music for a soothing experience or take the time to make some calls.
The heat for the back, seat, and calves is amazingly soothing, but you can’t use it for more than 30 minutes per day. Bummer!
I also liked the head air bag massage, with an inflatable pillow that massaged my temples and made my brain feel more oxygenated.
In fact, the air bag massage offered by this chair is especially therapeutic for the hip and back area, considering you can combine it with a twisting-squeezing function.
There’s air bag massage for your other body parts, though, 9 auto programs, 5 massage techniques – all that with 5 adjustable speeds, 5 intensities, and 3 widths! Read my guide about overview of Titan Massage Chair models here.
Accommodates various body types
Great foot massage
Two zero-G positions
Back and calf heat
Amazing air massage
Adjustable speed and intensity
Basic massage techniques
Summary: The Titan Pro Jupiter XL offers the basic massage functions, plus a stellar head massage.
11. Positive Posture Brio Chair
The Positive Posture Brio Massage Chair sports the Intelligent True 4D technology that allows the rollers to travel from the track so they can push into your spine for a more penetrating massage.
But since this chair already features an L-track, its massages are fairly deep already.
The good news is the track can get all the way from your neck down to your glutes and upper hamstrings.
Although I love deep massages, I also like to have other options.
Unfortunately, this chair doesn’t feature a lot of massage techniques, just the 4 regular ones: Kneading, Tapping, Rolling and Pushing.
Still, there’s zero-gravity for improving blood circulation and joint pain, heat for the lower back and calves and a full body compression massage.
I can also appreciate the 10 built-in programs and manual adjustments, body scan, and space-saving design.
But I really liked the foot rollers that massaged by soles into heaven – it’s the power of reflexology.
And you can also appreciate how intuitive the remote is.
Back and calf heat therapy
Great sole massage
Fairly deep massage
Basic massage techniques
Summary: The Positive Posture Brio Massage Chair features all the basic functions for hobbyist users.
12. Osaki OS-7200H Massage Recliner Chair
The Osaki OS-7200H features auto body scan, massage roller heads and pressure sensors to deliver personalized massages.
In fact, this chair doesn’t just find sore spots on your back; it also figures out how tall people are!
The auto leg scan is another impressive feature, keeping your feet snugly positioned in the ottoman to align your calves and feet correctly.
The S-track design contours your spine, but it’s the industry standard, along with the quad rollers.
These rollers mimic the movements of a chiropractor’s hands, especially beneficial for easing chronic pain.
Besides, you can adjust the intensity and roller width!
I also liked the two zero-gravity positions for that true feeling of weightlessness.
The first position aligns the thighs and the heart, while the second elevates your legs further up to improve your circulation and increase the back massage intensity.
The shoulder heat pads made me feel warm and relaxed, while the 51-airbags offered me a good compression massage from my neck all the way down to my feet.
I also liked the MP3 port and built-in speakers; they really provide an immersive experience.
And the Blue LED chromotherapy is just what you need if you struggle with sleep deprivation or other sleep-related issues, even anxiety.
The remote is easy to use, and the auto-off timer is perfect for setting your massage duration.
You can choose between 6 massage techniques (Kneading, Tapping, Combo, Rolling, Shiatsu and Swedish) and 8 built-in programs.
The Music Sync option is my favorite – the massage is placed on the beat of your favorite tunes.
Besides, you can adjust the intensity, speed and roller width; you even have a Zone function!
Great body scan
Two zero-G positions
Heated massage shoulder pads
Great neck massage
No calf heat
Can’t adjust heat intensity
Few advanced massage techniques
Summary: The Osaki OS-7200H is a top massage chair for full-body massages, provide soothing and relaxing massage from head to toes.
The Osaki OS Pro Maxim features a hybrid track technology that combined the anatomically curved shape of your spine courtesy of the S-track with the roller’s ability to get all the way down to your hamstrings, courtesy of the L-track.
The touchscreen controller is like a smart tablet, but bigger, so it’s easy to use and has an intuitive interface.
Another user-friendly feature is the body-scan technology which identifies your pressure points so it can deliver personalized massages.
Speaking of which, you can customize your massage thanks to 12 pre-programmed massages, manual massage techniques like Kneading, Tapping, Rolling, Clapping, Swedish and Shiatsu, plus 5 intensity levels.
The air bag massage features 36 air cells, and it’s quite refreshing, plus there’s lumbar heat to ease any back pain.
The foot rollers and auto leg scan are a great way to ensure you get the perfect leg massage, especially since the ottoman is made to fit your height.
This chair features Bluetooth compatible speakers, which I always appreciate, chromotherapy to relax you with soft blue lights, and zero gravity to give your back a deeper massage considering it’s fully pressing on the rollers.
You also can’t neglect the seat vibration – I like it, but if it’s too much for you, you can always turn it off.
Customizable massage experience
Plenty of massage options
Bluetooth compatible speakers
Chromotherapy massage therapy
Seat vibration might feel too intense
No calf heat (no heating options)
Summary: The Osaki OS Pro Maxim massage recliner chair is easy to use and has plenty of massage options, though it lacks features available in more expensive chairs.
16. Osaki OS-4000T Massage Chair Recliner
With its ergonomic S-track, the Osaki 4000T executive zero gravity massage chair contours the natural curvature of your spine, though this is the industry standard and can feel a bit short – the rollers don’t reach your hamstrings.
However, a plus for this price range is the two-stage zero gravity, which allows the chair to place you in a neutral position, reducing spinal pressure.
The first position places your legs and heart at the same level, while the second elevates your legs to increase the blood circulation and disperse any blood clots.
The body scan technology allows this chair to adjust the rollers in order to hit your sore spots.
The air massage technology I liked, especially since it’s less noisy than other chairs, not to mention power-saving.
But the cherry on the cake is the full-arm air massage, which you really have to try for yourself.
The auto leg scan and length adjustment is another top-end feature. Not only does it allow your legs to fit snuggly in the ottoman, but it also aligns them correctly to increase the massage efficiency.
With lower back heat therapy and seat vibration, 8 built-in programs and 6 manual massage techniques, each with 5 levels of speed and intensity, you can say that this is a pretty basic chair recliner.
However, you can customize your massage fairly easily, combining the type of massages, area, duration, intensity, and speed.
The best feature? The two rows of reflexology rollers that are an acupressure wonder.
Pro tip: combine them with the calf air massage for the complete experience!
Two zero-gravity positions
Reflexology foot rollers
Basic massage techniques
No calf heat
Summary: The Osaki 4000T massage chair offers a quality foot massage, plus other therapeutic functions.
17. Ogawa Refresh Plus Massage Chair
The Ogawa Refresh Plus is a quality chair that delivers a great air massage courtesy of 42 Second Generation airbags.
It looks good, but you can see the leg ports and the LED lights, so it pretty much stands out.
Besides, it’s a big, heavy chair and it doesn’t have a space-saving design, so you need to place it 10 inches away from a wall.
That said, the quad rollers feel quite life-like, and the two stages of zero gravity allow you to take the pressure off your spine, while also increasing the massage intensity in the lumbar area.
However, this chair featured an S-track so, although ergonomic and suited to your spine curvature; it can’t reach your thighs.
On the other hand, the vibrating seat feature tries to compensate for this disadvantage.
Another minus though is the absence of the 3D roller design which increases the massage pressure.
This isn’t so bad for general use purposes, but it might not suit people looking for a therapeutic chair.
Still, the Ogawa Refresh Plus has a good body scan technology and plenty of options.
There are 6 auto-programs and manual techniques such as Kneading, Tapping, Combo, Rolling, Clapping, plus the advanced Shiatsu and Swedish.
I liked that I could adjust the massage intensity and speed too, and I particularly enjoyed the spot and zone massage which allowed me to focus on certain sore spots.
There’s lumbar heat too, always a plus, but no calf heat and no way to control the heating temperature.
The body stretch function is pretty ok, but not really therapeutic like a Thai stretch or another sort of a firm stretch.
Besides, the Android tablet that comes instead of the usual remote has a learning curve because it doesn’t have an intuitive interface.
Great air massage
Two stages of zero gravity
Adjustable speed and intensity
Spot and zone massage
No 3D rollers
No calf heat
A learning curve for the tablet
Summary: Feature-packed, the Ogawa Refresh Plus is better suited for hobbyist users instead of therapeutic purposes.
